- 0 E),' <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 1, 1993 <br />HANSEL CENTER <br />HANSEL CENTER ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to provide for <br />necessary building repairs, Emergency Food Bank equipment, and <br />staff training equipment at the Hansel Community Center and <br />State required cubbies, cots, carpet, and playground equipment <br />at Hansel Day Care, Learning Twig Day Care and Martin Day Care <br />Centers. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed <br />$20,000.00. <br />DIVISION OF PLANNING AND NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT <br />WEST WASHINGTON PUBLIC WORKS ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to improve West <br />Washington Street particularly in the 1200 and 1300 blocks <br />with street, curb and sidewalk construction/reconstruction, <br />street lights, alley improvements and sod and tree plantings. <br />The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $75,000.00. <br />DIVISION OF PLANNING AND NEI <br />PLANNING AND NEIG <br />DEVELOPMENT <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to prov <br />technical support for planning of neighborhood <br />revitalization activities. The total cost of <br />shall not exceed $98,094.00. <br />.TION ACTIV. <br />ide staffing and <br />development and <br />this activity <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the above outlined Community <br />Development Contracts be approved and executed. Mrs. Mueller <br />seconded the motion which carried. Mr, Caldwell abstained from <br />voting on the Neighborhood Partnerships Contract. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MARCH OF DIMES TO CONDUCT WALK-AMERICA - <br />APRIL 24, 1993 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request, which was <br />submitted to the Board on February 1, 1993, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUESTS OF POTAWATOMI ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY REFERRED: <br />- TO CHANGE WALL STREET TO ONE-WAY IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />ZOOFEST - JUNE 2-6, 1993 <br />- TO PLACE BANNER OVER GREENLAWN AVENUE NEAR ZOO IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH ZOOFEST - MAY 26-JUNE 6, 1993 <br />- TO CLOSE WALL STREET_ ON JUNE 26, 1993 IN CONJUNCTION <br />WITH COUNTRY FEST <br />- TO PLACE BANNERS OVER MISHAWAKA AVENUE, GREENLAWN AVENUE <br />IRONWOOD DRIVE AND JEFFERSON BOULEVARD IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />COUNTRY FE_ST - JUNE 12-26, 1993 <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Karolyn Kunz, Operations Manager, <br />Potawatomi Zoological Society, Inc., 500 South Greenlawn, P.O. Box <br />1764, South Bend, Indiana, advised that Zoofest will be held from <br />Wednesday, June 2 through Sunday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. until <br />10:00 p.m. each day. Permission is requested to make Wall Street a <br />one-way street heading west for all five (5) days of the festival. <br />The Zoological Society is also requesting permission to place a <br />banner over Greenlawn Avenue, near the zoo drive the week prior to <br />and during Zoofest. <br />Additionally, Ms. Kunz advised that on June 26, 1993, Potawatomi <br />Zoological Society will be sponsoring "Country Fest" with Country <br />102, WGTC FM. For this event, they are requesting that Wall Street <br />be closed off from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. for the festival. <br />
