V REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 15, 1993 051 Department of Economic Development, Division of Engineering, Park Department, Division of Sanitation, Street Department and Water Works. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request to advertise be approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. Also, the Department of Administration and Finance, has requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for uniform rental, cleaning and related services. It is noted that bidders will be asked to provide, clean and store uniforms to various City departments for use by employees. Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. Finally, Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately fifteen (15) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the above request was approved and a date of March 1, 1993, was established for the receiving and opening of sealed bids. APPROVE REQUEST TO DESIGNATE SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION AS AGENT FOR PURCHASING OF COPIER AND COMPUTER PAPER In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Beverly J. Kiebel, Purchasing Supervisor, advised that the South Bend Community School Corporation purchases copier and computer paper in greater quantities than the City of South Bend and therefore they are able to obtain significantly better prices. Ms. Kiebel further advised that the South Bend Community School Corporation follows the same bid procedures required by the City under I.C. 36-1-9-1 et seq. Additionally, the South Bend Community School Corporation is willing to solicit bids for copier paper and computer paper that would supply both the School Corporation and the City's needs and would provide for delivery to the City as the prices bid. Therefore, Ms. Kiebel requested that the Board designate the South Bend Community School Corporation as their agent for the purpose of soliciting and receiving bids and awarding contracts for the purchase of copier and computer paper. Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller informed members of the Board that the South Bend Community School Corporation does buy significantly more paper than the City and because of that they get a price one-third (1/3) lower that what the City pays. Mrs. Mueller noted that the School Corporation has exactly the same bidding procedures as the City and she believes that it is perfectly appropriate that the City designate the School Corporation as its agent for this purchase by putting the City's bid with the School Corporation's. It is noted that the paper required by the City will be delivered directly to the City. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE SIDEWALK CAFE/SIDEWALK SALE PERMIT APPLICATION Mr. Leszczynski noted that the Board is in receipt of a Sidewalk Sale Permit Application as submitted by R.J.'s Espresso Shoppe, 109 West Washington, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct an outdoor cafe at that location. It is further noted that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed this request and approval is recommended. Additionally, the City Attorney's office has prepared the required Agreement for Temporary Use of the Public Sidewalk for a Sidewalk Cafe which has been executed by the applicant.
