<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the above bids were
<br />referred to the Police Department for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - GARLAND ROAD SANITARY SEWER
<br />EXTENSION - HRP CONSTRUCTION - PROJECT NO 94-80
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on November 14, 1994, to H
<br />Construction, Post Office Box 266, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $18,222.00 for the aboveRP
<br />referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon
<br />motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the Contract was approved and
<br />the appropriate Certificate of Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond
<br />as submitted were filed.
<br />AWARD BID - COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME - PAINTING AND FINISHING
<br />Mr. Fred H. Lusk, President, Verkler, Inc., 4406 Technology Drive, South Bend, Indiana, advised
<br />the Board that on October 31, 1994, bids were received and opened for the above referred to project.
<br />After reviewing those bids, Mr. Lusk recommends that the Board award the contract to Pangere
<br />Corporation, 4050 W. 4th Avenue, Gary, Indiana, in the amount of $224,312.00. Therefore, Mr.
<br />Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined
<br />above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - MID -SIZE MOTOR GRADER
<br />Mr. Matthew L. Chlebowski, Director, Equipment Services, advised the Board that on October 17,
<br />1994, bids were received and opened for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those
<br />bids, Mr. Chlebowski recommends that the Board award the contract to Rudd Equipment, 5820
<br />Industrial Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the amount of $70,605.00.

<br />Road Grader
<br />Add 7 ft. wide front dozer blade and scarifier - $1,980.00
<br />TOTAL $70,605.00
<br />Warranty: Unit covered by standard factory warranty/full coverage 12
<br />months on parts and labor. Extended warranty covers five (5)
<br />years/5,000 hours on power train. Replacement parts
<br />guarantee per Champion letter.
<br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be
<br />awarded as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) TYPE I AMBULANCE - FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />Chief Luther J. Taylor, South Bend Fire Department, advised the Board that on October 24, 1994,
<br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those bids,
<br />Chief Taylor recommends that the Board award the contract to Goggan & Associates, Inc., 50811
<br />Killian Lane, Elkhart, Indiana, in the amount of $109,995.00. Further, Chief Taylor noted that
<br />Goggan & Associates, Inc. was not the low bidder. The bid of $97,525.00 from Southern
<br />Ambulance Builders, Inc. failed to meet specifications. The following items are exceptions or items
<br />not shown in the proposal, therefore, non -responsive to the bid specifications.
<br />Swivel Pedestal Console
<br />The Fire Department requested this style console in the specifications for two reasons: 1) safety of
<br />the Firefighters, easy access for various size drivers and officers; 2) mounting area for the siren,
<br />vehicles fire radio, police portable radio, fire portable radio and speakers. The dash mounted console
<br />does not meet specifications.
