<br />Association, 1355 Byron Drive, South Bend, Indiana, submitted
<br />to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access
<br />to Public Right -of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event,
<br />requesting that Byron Drive, from York to Woodvale, be closed
<br />from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. for a neighborhood block party.
<br />FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE - 809 SOUTH
<br />ALBERT STREET
<br />Mr. and Mrs. James Hamman, 809 South Albert Street, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, requested that the parking space in front of
<br />their residence be designated as a handicapped parking space.
<br />Mrs. Hamman advised that she utilizes a walker and her
<br />husband a cane, and they have difficulty getting a parking
<br />space in front of their house.
<br />OF ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT WALK - OCTOBER 16 1994
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Josephine M. Maternowski,
<br />Executive Director, Alzheimer's Association, Northern Indiana
<br />Chapter, 919 East Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 01, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, requested permission to conduct the 1994 Alzheimer's
<br />Association Memory Walk on Sunday, October 16, 1994 beginning
<br />at 11:00 a.m. and utilizing the route submitted with the
<br />request.
<br />APPROVE REQUESTS:
<br />REQUEST OF MADISON CENTER AND HOSPITAL TO CLOSE A
<br />PORTION OF MADISON STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH FUNDRAISING
<br />EVENT - OCTOBER 22, 1994
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE LA SALLE AVENUE, FROM TWYCKENHAM TO ESTHER,
<br />FOR BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 11, 1994
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE FREDRICKSON, FROM JOHNSON TO O'BRIEN, FOR
<br />BLOCK PARTY FOR BIRTHDAY AND LABOR DAY - SEPTEMBER 3 & 4
<br />1994
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and
<br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests, which were
<br />submitted to the Board on August 1, 1994, August 9, 1994 and
<br />August 22, 1994, and recommend approval. Therefore, Mr.
<br />Leszczynski made a motion that these requests be approved. Mrs.
<br />Manier seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS BOND
<br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Division of Engineering, recommended
<br />that the Board approve the Bond of Contractor for Portage
<br />Construction Company, Inc., effective August 23, 1994. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and
<br />the bond be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORTS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Department of Code Enforcement
<br />has submitted two (2) lists containing eighty-one (81) City owned
<br />and miscellaneous properties which were cleaned by the Department
<br />from August 15, 1994 to August 19, 1994.
<br />APPROVE CLAIMS
<br />Mr. Juan Manigault, Executive Director, WDS of Northern Indiana,
<br />submitted a list containing claims in the amount of $67,225.09 and
<br />recommended approval. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the
<br />claims be approved and the report as submitted be filed. Mrs.
<br />Manier seconded the motion which carried.
