Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the <br />Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS - GOLF CARS AND GOLF UTILITY VEHICLES <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. James Riggs, Airport 2010 Project <br />Manager, Department of Community and Economic Development, advised <br />that on May 31, 1994, the Board received and opened bids from five <br />(5) vendors for the re -bid of golf cars and golf utility vehicles. <br />Mr. Riggs noted that upon review of the bids from the five (5) <br />vendors, he is recommending that the Board award the following <br />items to the second lowest bidder, Professional Golfcar <br />Corporation, Highway 37 Bypass at Fullerton Pike, P.O. Box 250, <br />Bloomington, Indiana: <br />UNIT PRICE TOTAL <br />ITEM I (70 UNITS) <br />ELECTRIC POWERED GOLF CARS $2,360.00 $165,200.00 <br />WITH/CANOPY TOP & WINDSHIELD $ 125.00 $ 8,750.00 <br />WITH SAND TRAP AND RAKE HOLDER $ 2.95 $ 206.50 <br />TOTAL BID AWARD ITEM 1: $2,487.95 $174,156.50 <br />ITEM II (3 UNITS) <br />GAS POWERED 4WH UTILITY VEHICLES $3,995.00 $ 11,985.00 <br />ITEM IIIA: ALTERNATE (1 UNIT) <br />GAS POWERED 4WH REFRESHMENT CENTER $6,527.00 $ 6,527.00 <br />ITEM IV: (1 UNIT) <br />GAS POWERED 4WH UTILITY VEHICLE WITH <br />BALL CAGE $4,579.00 $ 4,579.00 <br />ITEM VI• <br />TRADE-IN REDUCTION $4,500.00 $ 4,500.00 <br />ITEM VII (70 UNITS) <br />MAINTENANCE AGREEMENTS $ 50.00 $ 3,500.00 <br />TOTAL BID AWARD: $196,247.50 <br />Mr. Riggs noted that the lowest bidder, Windy City Golf Cars did <br />not meet required bid specifications. The bid specifications for <br />Items II, IIIa and IV clearly require a 4-cycle gasoline engine. <br />The Par Car GU4 as submitted by Windy City is equipped with a 2- <br />cycle engine. According to Mr. John Quickstead, Blackthorn Golf <br />Course Superintendent, the 2-cycle engine requires a special <br />mixture of gas and oil for operation. The 4-cycle engine does not <br />require any special maintenance or operational procedure. Also, <br />for Item I, the bid specifications required a 5-year warranty on <br />batteries. Windy City was only able to warrant the batteries for <br />three (3) years. <br />In conclusion, Mr. Riggs stated that the following items will not <br />be awarded: <br />Item I - Battery capacity meter <br />Item III - Gas powered 4WH Utility Vehicle with beverage <br />insert <br />Item V - Alternate: Programmable Energy Management <br />system <br />
