02 REGULAR MEETING JULY 18, 1994 Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the above outlined requests be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. REQUESTS REFERRED: Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: TO CONDUCT WALK TO BENEFIT FARM SANCTUARY - OCTOBER 2, 1994 In a letter to the Board, Ms. Janice Hildabridle, 5002 Cedarwood Lane, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to organize a 10K Walk-a-Thon to benefit Farm Sanctuary, a national non-profit organization based in Watkins Glen, New York, which rescues and houses abused or abandoned farm animals. The event is planned for Sunday, October 2, 1994 and will originate at Pinhook Park at 12:00 noon, follow Riverside Drive to the duck pond at Leeper Park, turn around and return to the starting point. The small group of ten (10) to fifteen (15) participants is expected to complete the walk in about three (3) hours. TO CLOSE NAVARRE STREET, FROM PORTAGE TO LELAND, FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME - AUGUST 2, 1994 Ms. Sherry Barrett, 510 West Navarre Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access To Public Right -of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event, requesting that Navarre Street, from Portage to Leland, be closed from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 1994, for a National Night Out Against Crime event. FILING OF CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, a Certificate of Insurance for the following contractor was accepted for filing: 1. Warner and Sons, Inc. P.O. Box 87 Elkhart, Indiana FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY MONTHLY REPORT - MAY Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Board is in receipt of the monthly report as submitted by the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, Inc., for the month of May. The report indicates the type and number of animals handled for the City of South Bend. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the report be accepted for filing as submitted. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following bonds be approved and/or released as indicated: CONTRACTORS BONDS - Victor Lynn, d/b/a Release Eff. 6-9-95 Express Construction - Finer Finish, Inc.
