02 <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 18, 1994 <br />Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the above outlined <br />requests be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and <br />carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: <br />TO CONDUCT WALK TO BENEFIT FARM SANCTUARY - OCTOBER 2, <br />1994 <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Janice Hildabridle, 5002 <br />Cedarwood Lane, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to <br />organize a 10K Walk-a-Thon to benefit Farm Sanctuary, a <br />national non-profit organization based in Watkins Glen, New <br />York, which rescues and houses abused or abandoned farm <br />animals. The event is planned for Sunday, October 2, 1994 <br />and will originate at Pinhook Park at 12:00 noon, follow <br />Riverside Drive to the duck pond at Leeper Park, turn around <br />and return to the starting point. The small group of ten <br />(10) to fifteen (15) participants is expected to complete the <br />walk in about three (3) hours. <br />TO CLOSE NAVARRE STREET, FROM PORTAGE TO LELAND, FOR <br />NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME - AUGUST 2, 1994 <br />Ms. Sherry Barrett, 510 West Navarre Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And <br />Blocking Of Access To Public Right -of -Way For A Party Or <br />Similar Event, requesting that Navarre Street, from Portage <br />to Leland, be closed from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />August 2, 1994, for a National Night Out Against Crime event. <br />FILING OF CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and <br />carried, a Certificate of Insurance for the following contractor <br />was accepted for filing: <br />1. Warner and Sons, Inc. <br />P.O. Box 87 <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY MONTHLY REPORT - MAY <br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Board is in receipt of the monthly <br />report as submitted by the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, <br />Inc., for the month of May. The report indicates the type and <br />number of animals handled for the City of South Bend. Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the report be accepted for filing as <br />submitted. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Division of Engineering, recommended that <br />the following bonds be approved and/or released as indicated: <br />CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />- Victor Lynn, d/b/a Release Eff. 6-9-95 <br />Express Construction <br />- Finer Finish, Inc. Approve Eff. 7-1-94 <br />EXCAVATION BONDS <br />- Exploration Technology, Release Eff. 6-20-94 <br />Inc. <br />1 <br />11 <br />
