Mr. Craft noted that the awning will be
installed on the building in two (2) sections. The awning
will be installed a minimum of eight feet (81) six inches
(6") from the bottom of the frame to the sidewalk level.
Furthermore, the awning will project three feet (31) five
inches (511) over the sidewalk area.
REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 2210
NORTH HOLLYWOOD PLACE
Ms. Regina L. West requested, on behalf of her mother and
grandmother, who reside at 2210 North Hollywood Place,
that the parking space in front of their residence be
designated as a handicapped parking space.
APPROVE SALE OF PROPERTY - PARCEL II: LOT 2 REDWOOD ROAD - MINC
SUBDIVISION - 51190 REDWOOD ROAD - ELBEL PROPERTY
It was noted that on June 20, 1994, the Board opened three (3)
bids for the purchase of Parcel II, Lot #2, Redwood Road Minor
Subdivision, commonly known as 51190 Redwood Road.
Board member Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier made a motion that the high
bid received from Mr. William J. Krizman, 805 Lindenwood Drive
South, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $20,000.10 be
accepted. Mrs. Manier noted that this award is in the best
interests of the City as Mr. Krizman intends to build a house on
the property which increase the value of the property. Mrs.
Manier noted that her motion to accept this bid is subject to
approval by the Mayor and the Common Council.
Mr. Leszczynski indicated that in the past when the Board sold
property it gave preference to adjacent property owners. He
inquired if that was something the Board just did or did the state
statute specifically contain language that allowed the sale to an
adjacent property owner.
Board Attorney Anne Bruneel indicated that the statute which the
Board usually acts under for the sale of vacant City owned lots in
residential neighborhoods is a statute that governs the sale of
property under $2,000.00 and is a different statute than the one
that governs in this case. She noted that the sale to an adjacent
property owner is something that the Board can do in the case of a
sale under $2,000.00 but there is no comparable language in the
statute that is at issue now.
Mr. Leszczynski noted that Mr. Krizman's bid contained conditions
about ground environmental contamination/water. Mrs. Manier
stated that those conditions don't meet the terms of the City's
offer and is not part of her recommendation.
There being no further questions, Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion
which carried.
HILDRETH, FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JULY 16. 1994
Mr. Leszczynski advised members of the Board that the request
submitted to the Board on June 27, 1994, by Mrs. Susan Biggs, on
behalf of the Bellevue Addition Neighborhood Association to close
Bellevue Avenue, from Ruskin to Hildreth, for a neighborhood block
party on July 16, 1994, has been reviewed by various City
departments and bureaus and approval is recommended.
