The City's specifications required an outer shell of thermoglass which contains an elastomeric material which reduces chipping and cracking due to everyday use by the firefighters. The Cairn 1010 outer shell is made of fiberglass and does not have the elastomeric protection required by the City's specifications. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. REQUESTS REFERRED: Up 'n a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell an carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: OF HAUPERT CONSTRUCTION & COMPANY, INC., ON BEHALF OF PROPERTY OWNER AT 430-434 L_INCOLNWAY WEST, TO ENCROACH ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY Mr. Bruce A. Haupert, President, Haupert Construction & Company, Inc., 1524 Miami Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that it is their intention to add a decorative overhang with a canopy, constructed of wood and metal, to the facade of a storefront at 430-434 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Haupert noted that there is an existing area at the east that has a similar detail. This will be removed and enlarged to the dimensions shown on the drawings submitted with the request. The new detail will extend the full length of the building at approximately the same height as the existing.
