21.8 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 25, 1994 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering <br />for review and recommendation. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the Board did not receive bids for <br />several items. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion to <br />approve the readvertisement for the receipt of bids for these <br />items. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS <br />The following Community Development Contracts were presented to <br />the Board for approval: <br />SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PATROL ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to provide 5,200 hours <br />of directed police patrol within the NRA and other <br />low/moderate neighborhoods within the City of South Bend. The <br />total cost of this activity shall not exceed $100,000.00. <br />SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goals for this activity are to: <br />1. Provide Neighborhood Watch program services to 2,700 new <br />households, resulting in approximately 27 new <br />Neighborhood Watch Groups, within the NRA; <br />2. Provide consistent follow-up for previously organized <br />groups in the NRA to build participation; <br />3. Develop and implement Neighborhood Watch presentations <br />in City Partnership Centers and other neighborhood <br />anchor facilities; and <br />4. Provide specialized crime analysis for those crimes <br />reported to occur within the NRA. Such information can <br />then be used by Neighborhood Watch groups and <br />Neighborhood Patrols in the NRA. <br />The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $100,000.00. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the above referred to Contracts were approved and <br />executed. <br />APPROVE PROPOSAL - ENGINEERING SERVICES - I/N KOTE LIFT STATION <br />CONTROLS <br />Mr. Jack J. Dillon, Director, Division of Environmental Services, <br />submitted to the Board an Engineering Services Proposal from Cole <br />Associates, 2211 East Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />for the engineering of improvements to the I/N Kote Lift Station <br />Controls. The work to be done by Cole Associates will be billed <br />on an hourly basis and is estimated to cost approximately <br />$33,200.00. Mr. Leszczynski noted that some of the tasks to be <br />handled through this Proposal include emergency sewage flow <br />containment, wet well level -sensing equipment, operation and <br />maintenance training, air conditioning and telemetering and <br />controls monitoring. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion <br />that this Proposal be accepted and approved. Mrs. Manier seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 (FINAL) AND PROJECT COMPLETION <br />AFFIDAVIT - RENOVATION/INTERIOR FINISHES - 113 WEST COLFAX AVENUE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ziolkowski Construction, Inc., 1005 <br />South Lafayette Boulevard, P.O. Box 1106, South Bend, Indiana, has <br />submitted Change Order No. 1 (Final) indicating that the Contract <br />for the above referred to project be increased by $446.00 for a <br />new Contract sum, including this Change Order, in the amount of <br />$11,776.00. Additionally submitted was the Project Completion <br />1 <br />
