1. 31 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 1994 <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the application be <br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for <br />issuance of a license. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND APPROVAL OF TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MARK <br />W. DILLMAN, D/B/A DILLMAN FURNITURE <br />This was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing regarding the <br />application for a Transient Merchants license for Mr. Mark W. <br />Dillman, d/b/a Dillman Furniture, 160 North Broadway, Peru, <br />Indiana. It is noted that this Public Hearing is being conducted <br />pursuant to the requirements of the licensing ordinance governing <br />Transient Merchant licenses. <br />It was further noted that Mr. Dillman has applied for this license <br />in order to conduct a Furniture Sale at the St. Joseph County 4H <br />Fairgrounds, Singer Ross Building, 5117 Ironwood Road, South Bend, <br />Indiana, on April 22-23-24, 1994 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Dwight Dillman, Route #3, Peru, Indiana, was present on behalf <br />of Dillman Furniture, 160 North Broadway, Peru, Indiana. Mr. <br />Dillman informed members of the Board that they will be bringing <br />in truck loads of furniture to the St. Joseph County 4H <br />Fairgrounds to sell to the public. In response to Mr. <br />Leszczynski's inquiry about what kind of furniture is sold, Mr. <br />Dillman stated that they sell new furniture including beds, lamps, <br />mattresses and the like. Mrs. Manier inquired if Dillman <br />Furniture has conducted this type of sale in South Bend <br />previously. Mr. Dillman stated that they have previously been in <br />South Bend ten (10) to twelve (12) times. <br />It was noted that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this license application from the <br />Police Department, Fire Department and Building Department. <br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Board <br />concerning this matter and no written Memorandum in support of or <br />in opposition to the issuance of the license having been received, <br />Mr. Leszczynski closed the Public Hearing on this matter. <br />Further, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the license application <br />be approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for <br />issuance of a license. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 9-1994 - SCRAP METAL/JUNK DEALERS/TRANSFER <br />STATIONS LICENSE RENEWALS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate Resolution has been <br />prepared recommending to the Common Council that the license <br />applications of fifteen (15) scrap metal dealers be approved. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the Resolution be <br />adopted. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried and <br />the following Resolution No. 9-1994 was adopted: <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9-1994 <br />WHEREAS, scrap metal/junk dealers/transfer stations license <br />renewal applications for the year 1994 have been received by the <br />Board of Public Works; and <br />WHEREAS, inspections of the properties have been completed by <br />the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire Prevention Bureau <br />as required by Chapter 4, Article 4, Section 4-51 of the Municipal <br />Code; and <br />
