if <br />105 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 28, 1994 <br />time frame also coincides with their five (5) year capital <br />improvement plan. This project will be funded through the E.M.S. <br />Capital Improvement Fund. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this <br />request be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />Additionally, Mr. Robert E. Toppel, Manager, Plant Operations, <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant, requested that the Board advertise for <br />the receipt of bids for one hundred fifty (150) tons of chlorine <br />and seventy-five (75) tons of sulfur dioxide. Mr. Leszczynski <br />made a motion that this request be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the following requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />OF CRIME <br />CONDUCT ANNUAL 1994 CRIME STOPPERS <br />MOONLIGHT WALK - JUNE 12, 1994 <br />Mr. Thomas J. Richardson, Walk Director, South Bend Area <br />Crime Stoppers, Inc., 701 West Sample Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised that they request permission to conduct the <br />7th Annual Crime Stoppers Moonlight Walk on Sunday, June 12, <br />1994 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. <br />Mr. Richardson noted that they are establishing two (2) Walk <br />routes this year. The new shorter route is for individuals <br />who feel they are unable to walk the 8K Walk. <br />FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 326 N. WALNUT <br />Mr. Enoch Brownlee, 325 North Walnut Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested that the parking space in front of his <br />residence be designated as a handicapped parking space. Mr. <br />Brownlee noted that he has recently moved from 1808 Florence <br />Street. <br />REQUEST OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY/ST. JOSEPH COUNTY TO ACOUIRE <br />CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 3310 VERMONT PLACE <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Glinda K. Nicodemus, Executive <br />Director, Habitat for Humanity/St. Joseph County, P.O. Box <br />844, Notre Dame, Indiana, advised that they would like to <br />petition the City to donate a building site at 3310 Vermont <br />Place, South Bend, Indiana, (Key #18-4107-3893). <br />Ms. Nicodemus noted that Habitat is combining with the local <br />Lutheran churches and Western Avenue businesses who are <br />interested in the future of the west end of South Bend. This <br />lot would enable Habitat to provide a home for a family in <br />the near future. The project is scheduled for March, 1994. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO UTILIZE FIRE <br />STATIONS FOR PRIMARY ELECTION AND GENERAL ELECTION (MAY 3, 1994 <br />AND NOVEMBER 8, 1994) <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the Board is in receipt of a request <br />from the St. Joseph County Commissioners requesting permission to <br />utilize the following buildings as polling places for the primary <br />election on May 3, 1994 and the general election to be held on <br />November 8, 1994: <br />1. Fire Station #2 110 East Marion Street <br />2. Fire Station 43 1805 McKinley Avenue <br />3. Fire Station #5 2221 Prairie Avenue <br />
