<br />PUBLIC HEARING AND APPROVAL OF TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MELVIN
<br />E. WOOD, GROUP II PROMOTIONS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's
<br />Public Hearing regarding the license application for a Transient
<br />Merchants license for Mr. Melvin E. Wood, Group II Promotions, A
<br />Division of Group II, Inc., 326 North Victoria Street, Mishawaka,
<br />Indiana. It is noted that Mr. Wood has applied for this license
<br />in order to conduct the Michiana Sport Travel & Boat Show on March
<br />4-6, 1994 at the Century Center.
<br />Mr. Wood was present and informed members of the Board that this
<br />is the nineteenth year for the Michiana Sport Travel & Boat Show.
<br />Mr. Wood noted that vendors will be exhibiting boats, fishing
<br />tackle and outdoor equipment.
<br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Board
<br />concerning this matter and no written Memorandum in support of or
<br />in opposition to the issuance of the license being received, Mr.
<br />Leszczynski closed the Public Hearing on this matter.
<br />It is noted that the Board is in receipt of favorable
<br />recommendations concerning this license application from the
<br />Police Department, Fire Department and the Building Department.
<br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the application be
<br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for
<br />issuance of a license. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />AWARD BID - TWENTY-TWO (22) 1994 POLICE PATROL VEHICLES.
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director,
<br />Division of Equipment Services, on behalf of the Police
<br />Department, recommended that the Board purchase twenty-two (22)
<br />new police patrol vehicles from the low bidder, Gates Chevrolet
<br />Corporation, 401 South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />for a total amount of $305,383.00.
<br />It is noted that Gates Chevrolet submitted a bid for 1994 Caprice
<br />Sedans in the amount of $13,881.00 each. Jordan Motors, Inc., 609
<br />East Jefferson, Mishawaka, Indiana, submitted a bid for 1994 Crown
<br />Victoria sedans for a base price of $13,400.00. With the addition
<br />of $503.00 for the anti -lock brake system as specified, the total
<br />amount of their unit price was $131903.00.
<br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this recommendation be accepted
<br />and the bid of Gates Chevrolet be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski
<br />seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE IRREVOCABLE STANDBY LETTER OF CREDIT - BO-LAND DEVELOPMENT
<br />CORPORATION
<br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Board is in receipt of
<br />Irrevocable Standby Letter of Credit No. 891, in the amount of
<br />$155,439.00, as submitted by the Valley American Bank, P.O. Box
<br />328, South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of Bo -Land Development
<br />Corporation, 2309 Council Oak Drive, South Bend, Indiana.
<br />It is noted that this Letter of Credit will expire on July 1,
<br />1994. It is further noted that this Letter of Credit is for the
<br />completion of improvements, including construction of streets,
<br />curbs and storm sewers in Phase I, Oakwood Villas Subdivision,
<br />Portage Road at Boland Drive.
<br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this Letter of Credit be accepted
<br />and approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried.
