REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 21, 1995 APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - WILLIAM RICHARDSON DRIVE EXTENSION - PROJECT NO. 95-51 In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Dan Weisel, Division of Engineering, requested permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Weisel stated that this project will extend pavement, curb, and storm and sanitary sewers on William Richardson Drive in the City of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was approved. 1995 SEWER LINING PROGRAM - PROJECT NO.95-66 Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to re - advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the original request to bidders had the incorrect publish and open dates. REQUEST REFERRED Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following request was referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation: - TO CLOSE STREETS - ACTIVITIES IN FRONT OF SAILORS AND SOLDIERS MONUMENT In a letter to the Board, Mr. John Hanson, St. Joseph County Veterans Commanders Council, 19459 Orchard Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close Washington Street between Main Street and Lafayette Boulevard for approximately one hour on Saturday, September 2, 1995, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in conjunction with activities to be conducted in front of the Sailors and Soldiers Monument on the Court House lawn. This activity is for the 50th anniversary of the date of the signing of the end of World War II. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were approved: NEW INSTALLATION: LOCATION: REMARKS: NEW INSTALLATION: LOCATION: REMARKS: NEW INSTALLATION: LOCATION: REMARKS: Handicap Sign 23 8 East Eckman Mrs. Gizzi has met all requirements Handicap Sign 1340 West Fisher Mr. Casimer Zarobinski has met requirements Handicap Sign 1162 East Indiana Mr. Huys has met all requirements APPROVAL OF CLAIMS Ms. Ann Kolata, Department of Community and Economic Development, submitted a claim for the Century Center Remodeling and the College Football Hall of Fame and recommended approval. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be approved and the reports as submitted be filed. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. 1 G
