REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 21, 1995 <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - WILLIAM <br />RICHARDSON DRIVE EXTENSION - PROJECT NO. 95-51 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Dan Weisel, Division of Engineering, requested permission to <br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Weisel stated that this project <br />will extend pavement, curb, and storm and sanitary sewers on William Richardson Drive in the City <br />of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the <br />request was approved. <br />1995 SEWER LINING PROGRAM - PROJECT NO.95-66 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to re - <br />advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the original request to <br />bidders had the incorrect publish and open dates. <br />REQUEST REFERRED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following <br />request was referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation: <br />- TO CLOSE STREETS - ACTIVITIES IN FRONT OF SAILORS AND SOLDIERS MONUMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John Hanson, St. Joseph County Veterans Commanders Council, 19459 <br />Orchard Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close Washington Street between Main <br />Street and Lafayette Boulevard for approximately one hour on Saturday, September 2, 1995, <br />beginning at 9:00 a.m., in conjunction with activities to be conducted in front of the Sailors and <br />Soldiers Monument on the Court House lawn. This activity is for the 50th anniversary of the date <br />of the signing of the end of World War II. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following three <br />(3) traffic control devices were approved: <br />NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />Handicap Sign <br />23 8 East Eckman <br />Mrs. Gizzi has met all requirements <br />Handicap Sign <br />1340 West Fisher <br />Mr. Casimer Zarobinski has met requirements <br />Handicap Sign <br />1162 East Indiana <br />Mr. Huys has met all requirements <br />APPROVAL OF CLAIMS <br />Ms. Ann Kolata, Department of Community and Economic Development, submitted a claim for the <br />Century Center Remodeling and the College Football Hall of Fame and recommended approval. Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be approved and the reports as submitted be filed. Mrs. <br />Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />1 <br />G <br />
