REGULAR MEETING JULY 10, 1995
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - RIVER PARK DAY FESTIVAL - PARADE
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. K.R. Palmer, River Park Business Association, 2528 Mishawaka
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to parade, on Saturday, August 12,
<br />1995, beginning at 10:00 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mrs.
<br />Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE A PORTION OF BULLA STREET
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Charles Mack,
<br />1601 North Johnson, South Bend, Indiana, to close Bulla Street from Johnson to O'Brien, on Friday,
<br />July 7, 1995, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., in conjunction with a funeral dinner for friends and
<br />family. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following requests
<br />were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation:
<br />- TO CONDUCT THE 1995 ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION MEMORY WALK
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Jo Maternowski, Executive Director, Alzheimer's Association, 919 East
<br />Jefferson, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a request to conduct the 1995 Alzheimer's Association
<br />Memory Walk to be held on Sunday, October 15, 1995, beginning at 11:00 a.m., on the designated
<br />route as submitted. Ms. Matemowski stated that this is a combined 5K and 1 OK walk, to begin at
<br />Howard Park.
<br />- TO CLOSE A PORTION OF MCPHERSON STREET - ST. STEPHEN'S PARISH ANNUAL
<br />FESTIVAL
<br />In a letter to the Board, Reverend Thomas F. Lemos, Pastor, St. Stephen's Parish, 1102 West
<br />Thomas Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a request to conduct an annual parish festival, which
<br />will be held Sunday, August 6, 1995, on McPherson, from Thomas to Napier, from 9:00 a.m. until
<br />6:00 p.m.
<br />-TO CONDUCT WALK - UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME TRIO PROGRAM
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Dorine Blake -Smith, Director, University of Notre Dame Upward Bound
<br />Project, Post Office Box 458, Notre Dame, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a walk in
<br />conjunction with the support of educational opportunities for South Bend residents, on Wednesday,
<br />July 26, 1995, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the South Bend Public Library, on the route as submitted.
<br />- TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Ms. Vita Johnson, 821 North Allen, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a block
<br />party on Allen Street, from Van Buren to California, on Saturday, July 15, 1995, from 1:00 p.m.
<br />until 6:00 p.m., in conjunction with the Near Northwest Neighborhood block party activities.
<br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CONTRACTOR BOND
<br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following
<br />Contractor Bond be released as follows:
<br />Herrman & Goetz, Inc. Released Effected May 5, 1995
<br />Mrs. Manier made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bond be released as
<br />outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
