(S ~ =- REGULAR MEETING JULY 18, 2007 (1) month. Chief Buchanon joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, dedication, and distinguished years of service to the South Bend Fire Department and the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Alford and carried, the retirement was accepted and approved. ACCEPT AND APPROVE RETIREMENT - RICK SWITALSKI President Rodriguez advised that Chief Howard Buchanon has submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for retirement for Assistant Chief Rick Switalski effective July 7, 2007. Chief Buchanon noted that Assistant Chief Switalski has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty-seven (37) years and one (1) month. Chief Buchanon joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, dedication, and distinguished years of service to the South Bend Fire Department and the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Alford and carried, the retirement was accepted and approved. ACCEPT AND APPROVE RESIGNATION -BARRY SEBESTA, JR. President Rodriguez advised that Chief Howard Buchanon has submitted to the Board a letter of resignation from Engineer Barry Sebesta, Jr. effective July 8, 2007. Engineer Sebesta has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh to pursue his Masters Degree. He has served the South Bend Fire Department and the citizens of South Bend for the last five (5) years and one (1) month. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Alford and carried, the resignation was accepted and approved. FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL REPORT -JUNE 2007 President Rodriguez indicated that unless there were questions or objections by members of the Board, the statistical report for the month of June 2007 as submitted by the Fire Department would be accepted for filing. Ms. Dulcet was an outstanding cadet with the Police Department, who was involved in many community events, and an avid volleyball player. Chief Fautz noted he had expectations for her to become the first female Chief of Police, she was thought so highly of. The Board of Safety joined together to offer prayers to the family of Cadet Kelly Dulcet. ' ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Board, President Rodriguez declared the meeting adjourned at 9:28 a.m.
