Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE A PORTION OF BROADWAY STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Street Department, Fire Department, Police Department, Park Department and the City <br />Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Pat Barham, Southeast <br />Neighborhood Partnership Center, 626 East Broadway, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above <br />referred to neighborhood picnic, on Saturday, June 3, 1995, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m., in front <br />of the Partnership Center, between Rush and Marietta Streets. Therefore, upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE TWO (2) ALLEYS <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board two (2) Vacation <br />Petitions as completed by Mr. John McNamara, Habitat for Humanity, to vacate the following alleys: <br />The first east -west alley north of W. Calvert St. from the east right-of-way line of S. Philippa <br />St. to the west right-of-way line of the first north -south alley est of S. Philippa St. for a <br />distance of approximately 120 feet and a width of approximately 12 feet. Part situated in <br />South Bend Industrial Addition in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana <br />and <br />The first east -west alley north of E. Ohio Street from the east right-of-way line of South <br />Carroll Street to the west right-of-way line of South Columbia Street for a width of 14 feet <br />and a length of approximately 18 feet; and from the east right-of-way line of South Columbia <br />Street to the west right-of-way line of South Fellows Street for a width of 14 feet and a <br />length of approximately 198 feet; also, Columbia Street from the north right-of-way line of <br />East Ohio Street to the south right-of-way line of East Sample Street for a width of <br />approximately 20 feet and a length of approximately 278 feet. Parts situated in Kirby's <br />addition to the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning these <br />Vacation Petitions from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />
