REGULAR MEETING MAY 8. 1995 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - BLACKTHORN GOLF <br />CLUB - ADDITIONS TO CART PATHS - PROJECT NO 95-47 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested permission to advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for additions to cart paths at Blackthorn Golf Course. Mr. Littrell stated that this <br />project will add about 6,000 lineal feet of cart paths to the course. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that <br />the request be approved. Ms. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - STUDEBAKER <br />NATIONAL MUSEUM - REPAIRS TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FIRE ALARM AND <br />SPRINKLER SYSTEM - PROJECT NO. 95-48 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering„ requested permission to advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this project will make repairs <br />to the building's electrical system and install and upgrade the fire alarm and sprinkler systems at the <br />Studebaker National Museum. Further, it is the third step in the process of being able to re -open the <br />building to the public. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the request be approved. Mrs. Manier <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SIGNAGE - COLLEGE <br />FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Project Manager, College Football Hall of Fame, <br />requested permission to advertise for the above referred to project. Ms. Dobski noted that all bids <br />received on April 24, 1995, were rejected at the Board of Public Works meeting on May 8, 1995, <br />as they exceeded the Designer's estimates. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following <br />requests were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendations: <br />- TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Richard Gonzalez, 2714 Bonds Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />permission to hang a sign at his store located at 2914 West Western, South Bend, Indiana. <br />- TO RESTRICT STREET PARKING AND CLOSE ALLEY <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak requested permission to restrict on -street <br />parking on the south side of the 100 block of West Jefferson Boulevard, directly adjacent to the <br />Federal Building, 204 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, to official law enforcement vehicles <br />only, and to close the east -west alley directly to the south of the Federal Building to all vehicular <br />traffic. Chief Marciniak stated that this request concerns security at the Federal Building. <br />- TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Dennis McQueen, Madison Elementary PTO, 832 Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to conduct a block party on Park Lane between Lafayette and Main Streets, <br />on Friday, May 19, 1995, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., to conduct an Ice Cream Social. <br />- TO CLOSE STREET <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Pat Barham, Southeast Partnership Center Coordinator, 626 East <br />Broadway, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close a portion of Broadway between Rush <br />and Marietta, to conduct an Agency Fair/Neighborhood Picnic, on Saturday, June 3, 1995, from <br />12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. <br />REFERRAL OF PETITION TO ESTABLISH A RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Bonnie Anderson, 1518 North Meade Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />submitted a Petition for the Establishment of a Residential Parking Zone, on North Meade Street <br />bounded by Elwood Street on the south and Bulla Street on the north. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate <br />Bureaus and Departments for recommendations. <br />
