<br />Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bids be
<br />awarded as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - SOUTH BEND DAM/CANOE PORTAGE - PROJECT NO. 94-67
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on March 27, 1995,
<br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr.
<br />Littrell recommends that the Board award the contract to Commercial Diving Service, Inc, 1120
<br />Rarig Avenue, Columbus, Ohio, in the amount of $284,496.00. Mr. Littrell noted that Commercial
<br />Diving Service was the low bidder. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - ORGANIC RESOURCES BUILDING ADDITION AND VENTILATION
<br />UPGRADE - PROJECT NO. 95-09
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on March 27, 1995,
<br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr.
<br />Littrell recommends that the Board award the contract to Ziolkowski Construction, 1005 South
<br />Lafayette, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $174,850.00. Mr. Littrell noted that Ziolkowski
<br />Construction was the low bidder. Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the recommendation
<br />be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATIONS:
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following
<br />recommendations were approved:
<br />- COALITION FOR RACE UNITY
<br />Mr. Caldwell noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />Legal Department, Division of Engineering and the Park Department, in reference to the request to
<br />conduct a Coalition for Race Unity, on Sunday, May 21, 1995, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
<br />- POPPY DAY SALE
<br />Mr. Caldwell noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />Legal Department, Division of Engineering and the Park Department, in reference to the request to
<br />conduct a Poppy Day Sale, on Friday and Saturday, May 19th and 20th, 1995, throughout the City
<br />of South Bend.
<br />- MARCH FOR JESUS
<br />Mr. Caldwell noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />Legal Department, Division of Engineering and the Park Department, in reference to the request to
<br />conduct a March for Jesus, on Saturday, May 27, 1995, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., subject to
<br />all activities being conducted on the sidewalks.
<br />- WALK FOR HOSPICE
<br />Mr. Caldwell noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />Legal Department, Division of Engineering and the Park Department, in reference to the request to
<br />conduct the Walk for Hospice, on Sunday, October 8, 1995, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
<br />- WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE
<br />Mr. Caldwell noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />Legal Department, Division of Engineering and the Park Department, in reference to the request to
<br />conduct the "World's Largest Garage Sale, on Friday, June 2, 1995, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.,
<br />and Saturday, June 3, 1995, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and
<br />- BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department
<br />and the Division of Engineering, regarding the request to conduct a block party on Kenmore Street,
<br />between Western and Jefferson, on June 11, 1995, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
