<br />AWARD BID - TWO (2) TWENTY YARD REFUSE PACKERS
<br />Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Equipment Services, advised the Board that on February 13,
<br />1995, bids were received and opened for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those
<br />bids, Mr. Chlebowski recommends that the Board award the contract to Best Equipment Co., 2804
<br />N. Catherwood Venue, Indianapolis, Indiana, in the amount of $207,408.00. It was noted that Best
<br />Equipment was the low bidder. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) 22' ROLL OFF TRUCK WITH ARTICULATING CRANE
<br />Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Equipment Services, advised the Board that on February 13,
<br />1995, bids were received and opened for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those
<br />bids, Mr. Chlebowski recommends that the Board award the contract to Best Equipment Company,
<br />Inc., 2804 N. Catherwood Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, in the amount of $150,115.00. Mr.
<br />Chlebowski noted that the low bid of Whiteford Ford, $121,508.00, does not meet the specifications
<br />for a cab -over type cab and chassis. The LTS9000 is a conventional type cab, and this unit would
<br />have a larger turning radius and longer overall length which would make it very difficult to get in
<br />and out of City alleys. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be
<br />accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />AWARD QUOTATION - ASBESTOS PLASTER REMOVAL - 1911 S. IRONWOOD
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on March 6, 1995,
<br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr.
<br />Littrell recommends that the Board award the contract to Environmental Management Specialist,
<br />Inc., Post Office Box 39, Huntertown, Indiana, in the amount of $3,058.00. Therefore, Mr.
<br />■ Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined
<br />above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - PUBLIC PARKING FACILITIES
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following
<br />license applications were approved:
<br />Louis Anderson
<br />Franklin Street
<br />The People's Church of South Bend
<br />304 West Washington
<br />The above license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for
<br />issuance of a license. It was noted that the required Proof of Insurance as well as the hours and rates
<br />to be charged was attached to the applications.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - LICENSE APPLICATION FOR RENEWAL OF A
<br />SECONDHAND STORE
<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Traffic and Lighting, Code Enforcement, Police Department and the Fire Department, in reference
<br />to the renewal of a License Application for Renewal of a Secondhand Store, as submitted by Karen
<br />Raymond, P & K Furniture, 1301 E. Calvert. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by
<br />Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - "TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE" - KNIGHTS OF
<br />COLUMBUS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police
<br />Department, the Legal Department, Division of Engineering and the Park Department, in reference
<br />to a request submitted by the Knights of Columbus, to conduct a "Tootsie Roll Drive" on Friday
<br />May 5th and 12th and Saturday, May 6th and 13th. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell,
<br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was approved.
