REGULAR MEETING MARCH 6, 1995 <br />- IRRIGATION SYSTEM - UPGRADE FOR STUDEBAKER GOLF COURSE AND <br />EQUIPMENT UPGRADE FOR ERSKINE GOLF COURSE - PROJECT NO. 95-14 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested permission <br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this <br />project will construct a new irrigation system at Studebaker Golf Course and upgrade the control <br />equipment for the irrigation system at Erskine Golf Course. Additionally, the plans and <br />specifications are being prepared by the Engineering Division, and the Legal Department is <br />reviewing them. Also, in a previous request to advertise, Elbel Golf Course was included for a new <br />irrigation system, and this portion of work will be postponed. Mr. Littrell stated that this project <br />is being rebid, as the South Bend Tribune informed the Board of Public Works that legal notices <br />scheduled for publication would not appear in the newspaper. Because of rigid statutory <br />requirements for periods between advertisement and bidding dates, new advertising dates and <br />bidding dates must be scheduled for this project. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids <br />was approved. <br />- SAMPLE STREET/EWING REDEVELOPMENT AREA SITE CLEARANCE PHASE I, <br />STRUCTURE REMOVAL PACKAGE 3 - PROJECT NO. 95-15 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested permission <br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this <br />project is being rebid, as the South Bend Tribune informed the Board of Public Works that legal <br />notices scheduled for publication would not appear in the newspaper. Because of rigid statutory <br />requirements for periods between advertisement and bidding dates, new advertising dates and <br />bidding dates must be scheduled for this project. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczysnki, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids <br />was approved. <br />NO. 94-85 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on November 21, <br />1994, bids were opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to Midland Engineering Company, 52369 U.S. 33 <br />North, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $704,195.00. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bids be awarded as outlined above. Mr. <br />Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT 1 OTH ANNUAL WALK FOR HOSPICE <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the Board has received a letter from Mr. Mark Murray, Hospice of St. <br />Joseph County, Inc., 108 N. Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, requesting permission to conduct the <br />loth Annual Walk for Hospice, on Sunday, October 8, 1995, commencing at 1:00 p.m., through <br />5:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Leszcyznski and carried, the <br />request was referred to the appropriate Bureaus for recommendation. <br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following <br />Excavation Bonds be approved and/or released as follows: <br />Ideal Consolidated Approved Effective March 6, 1995 <br />Mateco Drilling Company Released Effective March 6, 1995 <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be <br />approved and/or released as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Department of Code Enforcement has submitted two (2) lists <br />containing twenty-five (25) City -owned and miscellaneous properties which were cleaned by the <br />Department from February 22 through February 24, 1995. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the <br />lists as submitted be accepted for filing. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />
