REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 30, 1995 APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO CONDUCT ST. JOSEPH RIVER RUN & CANOE RACE Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, City Attorney's Office, Division of Engineering, Park Department, Street Department and the Fire Department, for a request to conduct the St. Joseph River Run and Canoe Race on Saturday, May 13, 1995. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was approved. REQUEST REFERRED: Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following request was referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for review and recommendation: -TO CONDUCT WALK-A-THON - NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY Ms. Susan Wargon, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 615 N. Alabama, Indianapolis, Indiana, submitted a request for permission to conduct a Walk-A-Thon on April 2, 1995, beginning at 8:00 a.m. APPROVE REQUESTS TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - COMPUTER PRINTER AND COMPUTER -RELATED PURCHASES Mr. Kevin Horton, City Controller, submitted a request for permission to advertise for the above referred to equipment, for 1995. -SOUTH BEND WATER WORKS - FIELD COATING 3.5 MG IRONWOOD ROAD RESERVOIR AND FIELD COATING 0.25 MG FELLOWS STREET BOOSTER RESERVOIR - PROJECT NO. 94-94 Mr. Carl Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, submitted on behalf of the Water Works, a request for permission to advertise for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this project will paint the interior and exterior of two reservoirs in the southeast quadrant of the City. Further, plans and specifications have been prepared by S.G. Pinney and Associates, of which the Engineering Division and the Legal Department are reviewing. -ERSKINE GOLF COURSE CLUBHOUSE REMODELING - PROJECT NO. 95-05 Mr. Carl Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, submitted to the Board a request for permission to advertise for the above referred to project. This project will remodel the Erskine Clubhouse to provide a larger pro shop and snack bar. The plans and specifications are being prepared by John Werntz, Architect, and the Engineering Division and the Legal Department are reviewing them. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the above requests were approved. APPROVE RELEASE CONTRACTOR EXCAVATION BOND Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following Contractor Bond be released as follows: Ronald R. Foulks, Jr. Released effective January 30, 1995 Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bond be released as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY MONTHLY REPORTS - OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 1994 Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Board is in receipt of the monthly reports as submitted by the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, Inc., for the months of October and November 1994. The reports indicate the type and number of animals handled for the City of South Bend. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the reports be accepted for filing as submitted. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
