REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 23, 1995 <br />AWARD BID TWENTY-FIVE (25) POLICE PATROL CARS <br />Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Equipment Services, advised the Board that on January 3, 1995, <br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those bids, Mr. <br />Chlebowski recommended that the Board award the contract to Jordan Ford, 609 E. Jefferson, <br />Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of $407,125.00. Further, Mr. Chlebowski noted that the bid <br />award is for twenty-five (25) 1995 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor vehicles, at a unit price of <br />$16,285.00. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the <br />bids be awarded as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE LEASE AGREEMENT - FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE LODGE NO 36 AND <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that Mr. George E. Herendeen, Attorney at Law, 205 W. Jefferson <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, has submitted a Lease Agreement between the Fraternal Order of <br />Police Lodge No. 36 and the City of South Bend, and recommended approval. Mr. Leszczynski <br />noted that the Agreement concerns the lease of two (2) properties, commonly known as 25327 State <br />Road 23, and 1530 South Main Street (formerly known as the Tepe's Building). Further, this <br />Agreement leases to the City of South Bend the above referred to properties for a sum of eight <br />thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500.00) from February 1, 1995, to and including January 31, <br />1996, payable no later than February 28 during each year of the Lease. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the Lease Agreement was approved <br />and executed. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - ESTABLISH MCKINLEY AVENUE AS A ONE-WAY <br />STREET - EAST BOUND FROM EDDY STREET TO SUNNYSIDE AVENUE <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Area Plan Commission, Department of Community and Economic Development, Fire <br />Department, Department of Sanitation, Police Department and the City Attorney's Office, <br />concerning a request to establish McKinley Avenue as a one-way street east bound from Eddy <br />Street, to Sunnyside Avenue. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mrs. Caldwell and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />REQUEST REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following <br />request was referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for review and recommendation: <br />- REQUEST TO INSTALL ANEW SIGN ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT -OF -WAY AT 431 SOUTH <br />MAIN STREET <br />Mr. Leo J. Priemer and Mr. Melvin McCallum, Edward D. Jones & Co., 431 S. Main Street, <br />submitted a request to install a new sign at their business, which is being moved from 213 S. Main <br />Street to 431 S. Main Street. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise <br />for the sale of approximately thirty-one (31) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super <br />Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all <br />vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks have been run for auto <br />theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by <br />Mrs. Manier and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Board is in receipt of a request from Mr. Matthew L. Chlebowski, <br />Director, Division of Equipment Services, requesting permission to advertise for the sale of one (1) <br />22' Roll Off Truck with Articulating Crane and two (2) 20 Yard Refuse Packers. Additionally, Mr. <br />Chlebowski stated that bids were opened for the 22' Roll Off Truck with Articulating Crane, and <br />recommended permission to reject these bids. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to advertise for receipt of bids for the above <br />referred to equipment was approved. Further, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by <br />Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request to reject bids for the 22' Roll Off Truck with Articulating <br />Crane was approved. <br />
