REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 3, 1995 <br />A north/south alley bounded by West South Street on the north and the railroad on the south. <br />Also an east/west alley bounded by Main Street on the west and Michigan Street on the east, <br />part situated in Martin and Tutt Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition <br />as completed by Mr. Jeffrey V. Gibney, South Bend Heritage Foundation, 914 Lincolnway West, <br />South Bend, Indiana to vacate the following alley: <br />The first and second cast/west alleys north of E. Pennsylvania Avenue from the east right-of- <br />way line of S. Fellows St. to the west right-of-way line of S. Rush St., each being a width <br />of approximately 16 feet and a length of approximately 415.17 feet. Also, the first <br />north/south alley east of S. Fellows St. from the south right-of-way line of E. Wenger St. <br />to the north right-of-way line of E. Pennsylvania Ave., for a width of approximately 14 feet <br />and a length of approximately 384 feet, excluding the portion that intersects with the <br />east/west alleys. Part situated in Wenger's Fifth Addition to the City of South Bend. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - 1995 POLICE S.W.A.T. VEHICLE <br />Chief Ronald G. Marciniak, Chief of Police, advised the Board that on November 21, 1994, bids <br />were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Chief <br />Marciniak recommends that the Board award the contract to St. Ives, Inc. 828 Warehouse Road, <br />Toledo, Ohio, in the amount of $88,083.00. <br />1995 St. Ives Police S.W.A.T. Truck, with a 191 x 84"H x 93.5"W all aluminum Utilimaster <br />Aeromaster Walk -In Step Van Body mounted on a 1995 Chevrolet P-3 Commercial Forward <br />Control Shipped Chassis with a 178" wheel base, 14,100 gvwr, 7.41, (454 cu.in.), 230 H.P. gasoline <br />engine and automatic transmission. The vehicle will be designed, manufactured and equipped per <br />your enclosed bid specifications. Completed unit delivered to the City of South Bend Police <br />Department, South Bend, Indiana 46601. <br />BASE BID: $86,590.00 <br />Options: <br />#1 Roof mounted air conditioner, operable by both shoreline and <br />generator. Unit to be mounted on roof over the SWAT <br />compartment: $ 948.00 <br />#3 Spare wheel and tire, comparable to the tires and wheel installed <br />on the chassis. (mounted on body or shipped loose): $ 295.00 <br />#4 Vehicle security alarm system: due to the many types of alarms <br />available, we are bidding a price range. If this option is requested <br />we can go into details of the many systems available: $ 250.00 <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be <br />awarded as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />
