532 <br />REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 30, 1996 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-1996 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />REGARDING THE RETIREMENT OF <br />"ARIE", A K-9 POLICE DOG <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Board of Public Works has been advised by the City's Police <br />Chief that "Arie", a K-9, is no longer needed by the South Bend Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that "Arie" is unfit for the <br />purpose for which he was acquired and is no longer of use to the City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, Lieutenant Darryl Boykins, South Bend Police Department, has agreed to care <br />for "Arie" at his own expense and to keep him as a house pet and understands that "Arie" can never <br />again be used as a Police Dog; and <br />WHEREAS, I.C. 36-1-11-6 © permits and establishes a procedure for disposal of property <br />which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer needed by the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, that "Arie", a K-9 Police Dog, is unfit for the purpose for which he was <br />acquired, is no longer of use to the City of South Bend, and has an estimated value of less than One <br />Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that "Arie" the Police Dog, should be retired and put into <br />the care of Lieutenant Darryl Boykins for use as a house pet only. <br />ADOPTED this 30th day of December, 1996. <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />John Leszczynski, President <br />Jenny Pitts Manier, Member <br />ATTEST: <br />Angela K. Jacob, Clerk <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS -SAMPLE EWING <br />REDEVELOPMENT AREA - SITE CLEARANCE PHASE III - PROJECT NO 96-68 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested <br />permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated <br />that this project will demolish and remove ten (10) structures in the Redevelopment area. One is a <br />commercial structure which will be incorporated into the Ivy Tech State College site, and the other <br />nine are on the site that will be incorporated into the new park area. The Department of Community <br />and Economic Development has obligated funds for this project from the Sample -Ewing Area TIF <br />fund. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the <br />request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. <br />FILING OF APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE - ACE CAB <br />LINES <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that an Application for Certificate of Public Convenience has been submitted <br />to the Board for filing, as submitted by Mr. Robert M. Personett, 300 East High Street, Elkhart, <br />Indiana, to operate a taxi cab business in the City of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the Application for Certificate of Public <br />Convenience was filed. <br />
