S29 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 30, 1996 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:36 a.m. on Monday, December <br />30,1996, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier <br />present. Board Member James R. Caldwell was not present. Also present was Board Attorney Anne <br />Bruneel. M <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on December 16, 1996, were approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANTS LICENSE - <br />HEIRLOOM IMAGES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an <br />Application for a Transient Merchants License, as submitted by Mr. Roger L. Smith, 8863 East Black <br />Point Road, Syracuse, Indiana, to conduct the sale of new and used home computer equipment, photo <br />equipment and dollhouse miniatures, on March 9, 1997, January 12, 1997, March 16, 1997, May 4, <br />1997, April 6, 1997, September 7, 1997, October 5, 1997, November 2, 1997, and December 7, <br />1997, at the Century Center. Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been <br />received by the Police Department, Fire Department, Building Commissioner and the City Attorney's <br />Office. <br />Mr. Roger L. Smith, 8863 East Black Point Road, Syracuse, Indiana, was present, and recommended <br />approval. There being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the <br />Public Hearing was closed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />Manier and carried, the Application for Transient Merchants License was approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANTS LICENSE - SOUTH <br />BEND HAMFEST <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an <br />Application for a Transient Merchants License, as submitted by Mr. Robert Denniston, 21970 Kern <br />Road, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the sale of amateur radio equipment and computer equipment, <br />on January 5, 1997, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Century Center. Mr. Leszczynski stated <br />that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, Fire Department, <br />Building Commissioner and the City Attorney's Office. <br />Mr. Jeff Wilder, Century Center, was present, and stated that the South Bend Hamfest was the first <br />event held at the Century Center, and has been very successful every year. There being no one else <br />present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing was closed. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />Application for a Transient Merchants License was approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANTS LICENSE - VILLAGE <br />WEST ENTERPRISES, INC. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an <br />Application for a Transient Merchants License, as submitted by Mr. Rita A. Stansu, RR 1, Box 195 <br />C, Lake Village, Indiana, to conduct the sale of antique and modern long rifles, shotguns, revolvers <br />and pistols, military surplus and related clothing, on Saturday, February 1, 1997 from 9:00 a.m. until <br />5:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 2, 1997, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Union Station. Mr. <br />Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendation have been received by the Police Department, Fire <br />Department, Building Commissioner and the City Attorney's Office. <br />Ms. Rita Stansu, Box 195, Lake Village, Indiana, was present, and recommended approval. There <br />being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing <br />was closed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the Application for a Transient Merchant License was approved. <br />
