<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY -
<br />GIFT OF WARMTH FUNDRAISER - NIPSCO
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Design Review Committee, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in
<br />reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Susan Thornberg, NIPSCO, 307 North Michigan, South
<br />Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to fundraiser, on Friday, October 4, 1996, from 9:00
<br />a.m. until 4:00 p.m., on the sidewalk in front of 307 North Michigan, South Bend, Indiana. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Rita Baskin, 1602 North Huey Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to
<br />block party, on Saturday, October 19, 1996, from 12:00 noon until 11:00 p.m., on Bulla from Huey
<br />to O'Brien. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT HOMECOMING PARADE - RILEY
<br />HIGH SCHOOL
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. Anthony Byrd, Assistant Principal. Riley High School, 405 East Ewing
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to homecoming parade, on Friday,
<br />October 4, 1996, beginning at 6:00 p.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT SOUTH BEND-MISHAWAKA LIFE
<br />CHAIN PRAYER CHAIN
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Gus Zuehlke, South Bend -Mishawaka Life Chain, to conduct the above referred to prayer
<br />chain, on Sunday, October 6, 1996, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., on the designated route as
<br />submitted. Upon a motion made by Ms. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - ESTABLISHMENT OF A RESIDENTIAL PARKING
<br />ZONE - 1000 WEST WAYNE
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />Street Department and the Division of Engineering, for a Petition for the Establishment of a
<br />Residential Parking Zone, on the south side of the 1000 block of East Wayne Street, Monday through
<br />Friday, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. In addition, a traffic study was completed, and warrants were
<br />met for the Residential Parking Zone. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - DE-ICING
<br />MATERIALS
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Sam Hensley, Director, Division of Transportation, requested
<br />permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to items. Mr. Hensley stated that
<br />funding is provided by Street Materials Funds, Sewer Department and LRSA. Therefore, upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to advertise for
<br />the receipt of bids was approved.
<br />FILING OF EMERGENCY BOARD UP LIST CONTRACTOR
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Mr. Marc Mersich, G&M Diamond Builders, Inc., Post Office Box 1954,
<br />Mishawaka, Indiana, has submitted his bond for the Emergency Board -Up List. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, G&M Diamond Builders, Inc., was filed
<br />as an Emergency Board -Up List Contractor.
