<br />to Portage. Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the
<br />Division of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Ruth Chapman, 1020 East Irvington, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to
<br />block party, on Saturday, July 6, 1996, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Dale from Eckman to
<br />Irvington. Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the
<br />Division of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Kim Basham, 500 East Irvington Avenue, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred
<br />to block party, on Saturday, July 6, 1996, from 3:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight on Irvington from
<br />Fellows to Rush. Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the
<br />Division of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MILLION DOLLAR SALMON RUN
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Mindy Jane Miller, Madison Foundation, 403 East Madison Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that the people of the Madison Foundation, Inc., will celebrate the
<br />Million Dollar Salmon Run on Saturday, October 5, 1996, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m.
<br />Therefore, Ms. Miller requested the use of the East Race in conjunction with this event. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski made a motion that this request be approved subject to favorable recommendations
<br />being received from the Police Department, Traffic and Lighting, Park Department, and the Legal
<br />Department. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT P.O.W./M.I.A. HOSTAGE FREEDOM

<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. Bob Farkas, 68137 Lawndale Street, Edwardsburg, Michigan to conduct
<br />the above referred to march, on Saturday, August 10, 1996, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on the
<br />designated route as submitted. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr.
<br />Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - RIVER PARK
<br />NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION OPEN HOUSE
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Angie Jacob, President, River Park Neighborhood Association, to close 31 st Street from
<br />Mishawaka Avenue to Vine Street, on Thursday, July 25, 1996, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., in
<br />conjunction with an open house for the Neighborhood Association. Therefore, upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - ANNUAL PARISH FESTIVAL
<br />- OUR LADY OF HUNGARY PARISH
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Richard Gratzol, Our Lady of Hungary Parish, 829 West Calvert, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />close South Chapin from West Calvert to Bruce Street, on Saturday, July 20, 1996, from 4:00 p.m.
<br />until 11:30 p.m., in conjunction with their annual parish festival. Therefore, upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
