Further including Keasey Street east of Fellows and west of Marietta Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. REQUEST DENIED - PURCHASE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY - 1505 CATALPA Mr. Leszczynski stated that unfavorable recommendations have been received in reference to a request, as submitted by Mr. Rick Moore, Post Office Box 5, Berrien Springs, Michigan, to purchase City owned property at 1505 Catalpa Street. The Division of Planning and Neighborhood Development has reviewed the request, and stated that the City acquired this property during the 1994 County owned tax, and falls within the area of Rum Village where the City has a number of properties. Community and Economic Development recommends that the City maintain ownership of these properties until long range development plans determine otherwise. In addition, the area in which the property is located is identified in the Rum Village Neighborhood Action Plan as a potential site for a business park development. The Division of Engineering recommends that the City maintains ownership based on the same criteria. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request was denied. APPROVE CONTRACTOR BONDS Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following Contractor Bonds be approved as follows: BOND OF CONTRACTOR Michiana Concrete Approved Effective May 28, 1996 Retroactive to May 20, 1996 Robert J. Simpson Approved May 28, 1996, Retroactive to May 23, 1996 Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be approved as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE CLAIMS Mr. Kevin Horton, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $840,396.49 dated May 28, 1996, and recommended approval. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be approved and the reports as submitted be filed. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. LJI
