Further including Keasey Street east of Fellows and west <br />of Marietta <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST DENIED - PURCHASE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY - 1505 CATALPA <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that unfavorable recommendations have been received in reference to a <br />request, as submitted by Mr. Rick Moore, Post Office Box 5, Berrien Springs, Michigan, to purchase <br />City owned property at 1505 Catalpa Street. The Division of Planning and Neighborhood <br />Development has reviewed the request, and stated that the City acquired this property during the <br />1994 County owned tax, and falls within the area of Rum Village where the City has a number of <br />properties. Community and Economic Development recommends that the City maintain ownership <br />of these properties until long range development plans determine otherwise. In addition, the area <br />in which the property is located is identified in the Rum Village Neighborhood Action Plan as a <br />potential site for a business park development. The Division of Engineering recommends that the <br />City maintains ownership based on the same criteria. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request was denied. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR BONDS <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following <br />Contractor Bonds be approved as follows: <br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR <br />Michiana Concrete Approved Effective May 28, 1996 <br />Retroactive to May 20, 1996 <br />Robert J. Simpson Approved May 28, 1996, Retroactive to May 23, 1996 <br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be approved <br />as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Kevin Horton, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $840,396.49 dated May 28, <br />1996, and recommended approval. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be approved and <br />the reports as submitted be filed. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />LJI <br />
