W10 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 28, 1996 <br />ADOPTED at a meeting of the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend held on <br />May 28, 1996, at 1308 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana <br />46601. <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/John E. Jacob, Clerk <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - PROCESSION - SPECIAL OLYMPIANS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Ms. Sharon Evans, Special Olympics, Post Office Box 643, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana to conduct the above referred to procession, on Thursday, June 6, 1996, beginning at 6:00 <br />p.m. from the north end of Logan Center, for the purpose of escorting the athletes to the summer <br />State games in Terre Haute, Indiana, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT PROCESSION - ST. STEPHENS/ST. <br />CASIMIR' S <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Father Bill Schafer, St. Stephens, 1308 West Dunham, South Bend, Indiana <br />to conduct the above referred to procession, on Sunday, June 9, 1996, from 11:20 a.m. until 12:00 <br />noon, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. <br />Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE PROPERTY <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition <br />as completed by Mr. Joseph Catanzarite, 1314 Catondale Lane, Mishawaka, Indiana to vacate the <br />following property: <br />Ivy Road from the north right-of-way line of South Bend Avenue (S.R. 23) to the south <br />right-of-way of Edison Road for a distance of approximately 260 feet in length and 60 feet <br />in width; part situated in the Northwest quarter of the west one-half of the Northeast quarter <br />of Section 6, Township 37 North, Range 3 East, Portage Township, South Bend, St. Joseph <br />County, Indiana. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common <br />Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF VARIOUS <br />STREETS/ALLEYS <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition <br />as completed by Ms. Ann Kolata, Community and Economic Development to vacate the following <br />portions of streets and alleys: <br />All streets and alleys south of vacated Elder Street, east of Michigan Street, west of Carroll <br />Street and north of first east/west alley south of Pennsylvania, including all streets and alleys <br />1 <br />
