<br />and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MADISON SCHOOL ANNUAL ICE
<br />CREAM SOCIAL
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Elizabeth Eldon, Madison Elementary School, 832 North Lafayette,
<br />South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to Ice Cream Social, on Park Lane, from
<br />Lafayette to Main Street, on Friday, May 17, 1996, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.. Therefore, upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1 D) RUM
<br />TYPE WOOD CHIPPER
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Division of Equipment
<br />Services, requested permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to
<br />equipment. Mr. Chlebowski stated that the wood chipper will be for use by the Sewer Department,
<br />and funding will be provided by the User Department Capital Fund. Therefore, upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt
<br />of bids was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - NETWORK
<br />CABLING
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Milford Huetsell, PC Specialist, requested permission to
<br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to network cabling. Mr. Huetsell stated that
<br />this project will install network cabling for individual LAN systems that will be going into the
<br />Police, Fire, Park and County City Buildings (4th, 12th, 13th, and 14th floor). Mr. Huetsell stated
<br />that funding for these individual projects will come from the Capital Budget for each respective area.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the
<br />request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved.
<br />REQUEST REFERRED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following request
<br />was referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation:
<br />- REQUEST TO CLOSE STREETS - ETHNIC FESTIVAL
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Community Affairs, requested permission to
<br />hold the 1996 Ethnic Festival on June 28, 29, and 30,1996, in downtown South Bend and in Howard
<br />Park, with times and street closings as submitted.
<br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTOR AND EXCAVATION BONDS
<br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following
<br />Contractors and Excavation Bonds be approved as follows:
