5 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />carried. <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 15. 1996 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED <br />VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise <br />for the sale of approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto <br />Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles <br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and <br />the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MARCH OF DIMES BIRTH <br />DEFECTS MARCH <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Mr. Thomas E. Gerard, 501 East Monroe, South Bend, Indiana to conduct <br />the above referred to march, on Saturday, April 27, 1996, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., on the <br />designated route as submitted. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. <br />Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MARTIN LUTHER KING MARCH <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Reverend Carlston Shanklin, 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana <br />to conduct the above referred to march, on Monday, January 15, 1996 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 <br />p.m., on the designated route as submitted. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT ST. JOSEPH COUNTY RIGHT TO <br />LIFE MARCH <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Ms. Mary MacDonnell, St. Joseph County Right to Life, Inc., to conduct the <br />above referred to march, on Monday, January 22, 1996, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., on the <br />designated route as submitted. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. <br />Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following traffic <br />control devices were approved: <br />NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />NEW INSTALLATION: <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />Handicap Sign <br />310 East Eckman <br />Mr. Tony Zarolla has met all requirements <br />Handicap Sign <br />1605 North Johnson <br />Mrs. Stella McConnell has met all requirements <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Kevin Horton, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $337,290.97 and $235,516.75 <br />and recommended approval. Additionally, Mr. Juan Manigault, Executive Director, WDS of <br />Northern Indiana, submitted two (2) lists containing claims in the amount of $211,763.85 and <br />$26,628.15 and recommended approval. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be <br />approved and the reports as submitted be filed. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />
