REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 2, 1996 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:34 a.m. on Tuesday, January <br />2, 1996, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. James R. Caldwell and <br />Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier present. Also present was Board Attorney Anne Bruneel. <br />ELECTION OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS PRESIDENT <br />Mrs. Manier noted that at this time, nominations should be taken for President for the Board of <br />Public Works. Mrs. Manier nominated John Leszczynski. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, Mr. Leszczynski was elected President of the Board of <br />Public Works for 1996. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on December 18, 1995, and the special meeting held December <br />28, 1995, were approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT: LICENSE - MARKET PRO COMPUTER <br />SHOWS. INC. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a <br />License Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Ms. Jeanette Winton, 9912 <br />Inglemere Drive, Bethesda, Maryland, to conduct a computer show at Century Center, on January <br />13, 1996, from 6:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m, for the sales of computer hardware and software. Mr. <br />Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, <br />Fire Department and the Building Department. <br />Mr. Roger Smith, 8863 East Blackpoint Road, Syracuse, Indiana, was present, and stated that <br />MarketPro was able to secure a booking for their event in less than the ninety (90) day policy, which <br />is stated by the Century Center. He indicated that they were able to book their event by <br />misrepresentation. Mrs. Manier stated that if the Century Center is concerned, they would need to <br />take action to reschedule or cancel an event, and this issue is not within the privy of the Board of <br />Public Works. Mr. Leszczynski suggested that Mr. Smith address his concerns to the Century Center <br />Board. <br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public <br />Hearing was closed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the Application for a Transient Merchant License was approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - HEIRLOOM IMAGES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a <br />License Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Roger L. Smith, 8863 <br />East Blackpoint Road, Syracuse, Indiana, to conduct a camera and computer s swap meet at Century <br />Center, on Sunday, February 11, 1996, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; Sunday, March 17, 1996, <br />from 7:00 a.m. until S:00 p.m.; and Sunday, May 5, 1996, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., for the <br />sales of new and used home computer equipment and new and used photo equipment. Mr. <br />Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, <br />Fire Department and the Building Department. <br />There being no one present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing <br />was closed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, <br />the Application for a Transient Merchant License was approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MICHIANA BOAT AND <br />OUTDOOR SHOW <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a <br />License Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Melvin E. Wood, 326 <br />North Victoria, Mishawaka, Indiana, to conduct a boat and outdoor show at Century Center, on <br />Friday and Saturday, February 2 and 3, 1996, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, and 10:00 <br />a.m. <br />
