<br />APPROVE PROJECT COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT - GAGNON STREET SEWER
<br />INSTALLATION - PROJECT NO. 97-99
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manager, has submitted the Project
<br />Completion Affidavit on behalf of Dye Mechanical, Inc., Post Office Box 1728, LaPorte, Indiana, for
<br />the above referred to project, indicating a final cost of $19,910.00. Upon a motion made by Ms.
<br />Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the Project Completion Affidavit was approved.
<br />APPROVE PROJECT COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT - 1997 PARK DEPARTMENT PAVING
<br />PROGRAM - PROJECT NO. 97-37
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. Toy Villa, Construction Manager, has submitted the Project
<br />Completion Affidavit on behalf of Walsh & Kelly Construction, 24358 State Road 23, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, for the above referred to project, indicating a final cost of $13,897.50. Upon a motion made
<br />by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the Project Completion Affidavit was approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED
<br />VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise
<br />for the sale of approximately twenty-three (23) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super
<br />Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all
<br />vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto
<br />theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr.
<br />Littrell and carried, the above request was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - 1997 SEWER
<br />LINING PROGRAM - PROJECT NO. 97-52
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director of Engineering, requested permission
<br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this
<br />project will install cured in place pipe linings in various sewers in the City. Sufficient funds have been
<br />appropriated from the Sewer Depreciation Fund. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer,
<br />seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RENEWAL OF PARKING MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT AND AN
<br />INCREASE IN MANAGEMENT FEES
<br />Mr. John Coyne, Ampco System Parking, 1459 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, requested
<br />permission to renew their parking management agreement to provide on -street parking enforcement
<br />within the Central Business district, and a 3.2% increase in the management fee to cover a
<br />corresponding increase in personnel costs, from $9.40 per man your to $9.70 per man hour. Upon
<br />a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the Agreement renewal was
<br />approved.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 85-1997 - DISPOSAL OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following Resolution
<br />was adopted by the Board of Public Works:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 85-1997
<br />WHEREAS, I.C. 36-9-6-1 gives the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend the
<br />right and duty to have custody of, control of, use of, and dispose of in accordance with Indiana
<br />statutes, all real and personal property owned by the City of South Bend; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend passed as amended on January
<br />11, 1988, Ordinance No. 7847-88 which mandates the Board of Public Works of the City of South
<br />Bend to determine that the sidearm of a police officer who retires in good standing is surplus property
<br />and no longer useful to the City of South Bend; and
<br />WHEREAS, CORPORAL RICHARD L. KAZMIERZAK has retired from the South
<br />Bend Police Department after twenty (20) years of service and the Board of Public Safety of the City
<br />of South Bend has determined that he has retired in good standing; and
