Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on September 25, 1997,
bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr.
Littrell recommends that the Board award the bids as follows:
Bid Package
Awarded To
Bid Award Amount
Concrete Work - Bid Package
Casteel Construction
$1,758,000
3-06.70
General Construction. - Bid
Casteel Construction
$ 985,000
Package 3-06.50
In addition, Mr. Littrell stated that the lowest bid for Bid Package 3-3.73, Precast Concrete
Structure, exceeds the estimate for the work by more than $800,000, and recommends that the two
bids for this work be rejected. The package will be revised and re -submitted for advertisement and
bids as soon as revisions are complete. The Redevelopment Commission has sold bonds in sufficient
amount to cover these contracts. The bids for the other five (5) packages remain under review. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be
accepted and the bids be awarded and rejected as outlined above. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion
which carried.
[1
