~) ~' <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 27, 2007 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />EMPLOYEES OF THE MONTH -MARCH AND APRIL <br />- CORPORAL STEPHANIE MARCINIAK <br />- PATROLMAN MICHAEL NORBY <br />Corporal Stephanie Marciniak was selected as Employee of the Month for March, and Patrolman <br />Michael Norby was selected as Employee of the Month for April. The award is to recognize officers <br />or civilian employees on the South Bend Police Department who have demonstrated actions noted by <br />supervisors or citizens from both a professional law enforcement position and in support of the <br />community policing efforts with citizens of South Bend. Chief Fautz noted they have done a <br />tremendous job on the police force. There being no further discussion, the recommendations were <br />accepted and filed. <br />U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT <br />In a letter to the Board, Community Relations Division Chief Gary Horvath presented the synopsis, <br />timetable and budget for the proposed grant, which is part of the grant requirements. President <br />Rodriguez asked if there was anyone present that wished to speak. There being no further discussion, <br />upon a motion made by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Ms. Dempsey and carried, the Board accepted <br />and filed the report. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Thomas Fautz advised the Board of a generous donation of <br />$500.00 from the Norfolk Southern Foundation to the South Bend Police Department. The donation <br />was made on behalf of the Community Relations Division. There being no further discussion, the <br />donation was accepted and filed. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR A POLICE PROMOTION PROCESS <br />Mr. Bodnar, Legal Department, submitted to the Board an Agreement with the Institute for Public <br />Safety Personnel, Inc. Mr. Bodnar noted this was an Agreement with the City of South Bend for <br />more than $5,000.00 and more than one year, so it needed to be approved by the Controller. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Mr. Cottrell and carried, the agreement was approved <br />subject to approval by the City Controller. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT -APRIL AND MAY 2007 <br />President Rodriguez indicated that unless there were questions or objections by members of the <br />Board, the statistical report for the months of April and May 2007, as submitted by the Police <br />Department would be accepted for filing.
