<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SELF-
<br />CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS - FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Chief Luther Taylor, requested permission to advertise for the
<br />receipt of bids for the above referred to equipment. _Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED
<br />VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise
<br />for the sale of approximately seventeen (17) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super
<br />Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all
<br />vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had -been run for auto
<br />theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr.
<br />Littrell and carried, the above request was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY -
<br />INSTALLATION OF BANNERS -MISHAWAKA AVENUE
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department, Building Commissioner and the Redevelopment Design Review
<br />Committee for a request to install banners on Mishawaka Avenue from Greenlawn to Logan Street,
<br />as submitted by Mr. K.R. Palmer, River Park Business Association 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South
<br />Bend, Indiana. Further, it is to be noted that American Electric Power has agreed to install the
<br />banners, along with necessary brackets, and to put them up and take them down yearly. Upon a
<br />motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Albert Hill, 1012 Lindsey, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block parry,
<br />on Saturday, June 7, 1997, on Lindsey from Harrison to Sherman, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation
<br />was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - MADISON SCHOOL PICNIC
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the -City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Peg Luecke, Madison School, 832 North Lafayette, South Bend, Indiana to close Park Lane
<br />from Lafayette 'to Main on Wednesday, May 28, 1997, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., in
<br />conjunction with the school picnic. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer
<br />and carried, the recommendation was. approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT HILLTOP SUNRISE SERVICE
<br />Mr. Caldwell -stated that favorable recommendations -have been received. by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and'the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Shirley Morrell, 1927 Elmer, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the Hilltop
<br />Sunrise Service, on Sunday, June 5, 1997, from 6:00 a:m. until 7:30 a.m. on Kaley and Dundee from
<br />Washington to Falcon. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried,
<br />the recommendation was approved..
<br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - PUBLIC PARKING FACILITY
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell , seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following license
<br />application was approved:
