ff <br />REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 3, 1997 <br />BID: $60,085.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Roemer and carried, the bid received from <br />Environmental Abatement, Inc., 1434 Sadier Circle East Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana, was rejected, <br />as only one portion of the project was bid. This project was not a divisible bid. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Roemer and carried, the above bids were <br />referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER - IRONWOOD DRIVE ROADWAY CONSTRUCTION - PHASE <br />I - RANDOLPH STREET SEWER - PROJECT NO. 93-05 <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. Bob Allen, Public Construction Manager, has submitted Change Order <br />No. 1 on behalf of Rieth Riley Construction Co., Inc., 25200 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana <br />indicating that the Contract amount be decreased $15,479.41 for a new Contract sum including this <br />Change Order in the amount of $291,439.99. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by <br />Mrs. Roemer and carried, the Change Order was approved. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - CENTURY CENTER COOLING TOWER <br />REPLACEMENT - PROJECT NO. 96-80 <br />Mr. Caladwell advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on January 13, 1997, to Edward J. <br />White, Inc., 1011 South Michigan, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $148,400.00 for the above <br />referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Roemer and carried, the Contract was approved and <br />the appropriate Certificate of Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond <br />as submitted were filed. <br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENTS - BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of three (3) separate Agreements between the City <br />of South Bend and Jack R. Bland, Elmer L. Carr and Thadeus T. Zakowski, for services as Board <br />Members of the Board of Public Safety. Mr. Caldwell noted that each Agreement is in the amount <br />of $3,400.00 for the year 1997. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. <br />Roemer and carried, the three (3) Agreements were approved and executed. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS <br />The following Community Development Contracts were presented to the Board for approval: <br />Center for the Homeless $ 20,000 <br />El Buen Vecino, Inc. $ 10,000 <br />Real Services $ 12,000 <br />Code Enforcement $ 75,000 <br />Community Coordinated Child Care $ 55,000 <br />Real Services $ 10,000 <br />Madison Center/S.O. S. $ 20,000 <br />Near Northwest Neighborhood $ 12,500 <br />LaCasa De Amistad/EI Campito $ 10,000 <br />NRTSC $ 25,000 <br />South Bend Police Department $100,000 <br />South Bend Police Department $ 75,000 <br />Historic Preservation Commission $ 19,000 <br />LaSalle park Neighborhood Council $ 10,100 <br />CANCO, Inc. $ 40,000 <br />YWCA $ 75,000 <br />Interior Renovation - 3 new offices <br />The Edutra Program <br />Guardianship Program <br />Code Enforcement in low/moderate income <br />neighborhoods <br />Child care subsidies <br />Older Adult Crime Victim Program <br />Rape Crisis Counseling <br />Social Service Outreach Program <br />Staff Support - Emergency Pantry/Financial <br />Self -Sufficiency Workshops <br />Provide various capacity building services to <br />Neighborhood organizations <br />Neighborhood Foot Patrol <br />Neighborhood Watch Program <br />Continue historic survey, conduct local historic <br />review to ensure compliance with <br />Federal and State policies. <br />LaSalle Fillmore Neighborhood Center <br />operations <br />Outreach services in southeast neighborhood <br />at Boys and Girls Club <br />Neighborhood Outreach <br />
