REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 27, 1997 <br />WHICH IS DESCRIBED AS: BEGINNING AT A POINT ON THE WEST LINE OF SAID <br />SECTION 210 FEET SOUTH OF THE NORTH LINE OF SAID SECTION; THENCE <br />WEST 1,317.65 FEET PARALLEL TO THE NORTH LINE OF, SAID SECTION TO THE <br />WEST LINE OF KALEY STREET AND ALSO BEING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND; THENCE SOUTH ALONG SAID WEST LINE TO THE <br />NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF STATE ROAD #23; THENCE NORTHEASTERLY <br />ALONG SAID LINE TO THE CENTERLINE OF LOCUST ROAD (OLIVE STREET); <br />THENCE SOUTH ALONG SAID CENTERLINE TO THE SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />LINE OF STATE ROAD #23; THENCE SOUTHWESTERLY ALONG SAID LINE TO <br />A POINT 211.43 FEET FROM THE WEST LINE OF SAID SECTION; THENCE NORTH <br />5 DEGREES 40 MINUTES 27 SECONDS WEST 400 FEET; THENCE SOUTH 58 <br />DEGREES 07 MINUTES 20 SECONDS WEST 177.48 FEET TO THE WEST LINE OF <br />SAID SECTION; THENCE NORTH ALONG SAID WEST LINE TO THE POINT OF <br />BEGINNING. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED <br />VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise <br />for the sale of approximately twenty (20) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto <br />Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles <br />have been'stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and <br />the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. <br />Roemer and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />MISCELLANEOUS VEHICLES <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Division of Equipment Services, <br />requested permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to vehicles. Mr. <br />Chlebowski stated that funding is to be provided by Capital Improvements Plans.. 'Therefore, upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Roemer and carried, the request to advertise for <br />the receipt of bids was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO REJECT BIDS - DEGRIT BUILDING EXPANSION - WWTP - <br />PROJECT NO. 96-81 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert Toppel, Division of Environmental Services, requested <br />permission to reject all bids which were opened at the Board of Public Works meeting on January <br />20,1997. Mr. Toppel stated that all bids came in at 45% over the Engineer's estimate. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr: Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request was approved. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN.ALLEY <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition <br />as completed by Mr. William Panzica, Western Avenue Properties, 422 East Monroe Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana to vacate the following alley: <br />The first. north -south alley west of St. Joseph Street from the south right-of-way of West <br />Western Avenue to the north right-of-way of the first east -west alley south of West Western <br />Avenue for a distance of approximately 198 feet in length and width of 14 feet. Part located <br />in Martin's Addition in the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mrs. <br />Roemer made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF TAXI CAB RATES - ACE CAB LINES <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, <br />Equipment Services and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. <br />Robert M. Personett, Ace Cab Lines, 300 East High,Street, Elkhart, Indiana, for a Certificate of <br />1 <br />1 <br />Ll <br />
