<br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT - BUILDING BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of an Agreement between the City of South Bend and
<br />Christ Child Society of South Bend, 1124 West Thomas, South Bend, Indiana, to cover the costs of
<br />installing a floodlight outside of their building. Mr. Caldwell noted that the Agreement is in the
<br />amount of $1,000.00. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and
<br />carried, the Agreement was approved and executed.
<br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT - BUILDING BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of an Agreement between the City of South Bend and
<br />Ms. Catherine Wade, 505 Altgeld, South Bend, Indiana, to cover the costs of landscaping the
<br />grantee's front yard. Mr. Caldwell noted that the Agreement is in the amount of $100.00. Therefore,
<br />upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the Agreement was
<br />approved and executed.
<br />APPROVAL OF ADDENDUM TO AN AGREEMENT - LEIGHTON PLAZA - PLAZA
<br />LANDSCAPING
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of an Addendum to an Agreement between the City
<br />of South Bend and Urban Design Group, Inc., 233 South Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois, for a
<br />preparation of plans and specifications for an alternate design of the plaza hardscape. Mr. Caldwell
<br />noted that the Addendum is in the amount of $7,500.00. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms.
<br />Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the Addendum to the Agreement was approved and
<br />executed.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED
<br />VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise
<br />for the sale of approximately fifteen (15) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto
<br />Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles
<br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and
<br />the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer
<br />and carried, the above request was approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO REJECT BIDS - RUM VILLAGE PARTNERSHIP CENTER
<br />SERVICE AREA - PROJECT NO. 98-54
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manger, requested permission
<br />to reject all bids for the above referred to project, as they exceeded the engineer's estimate. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request was approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO REJECT BIDS - WAYNE STREET PARKING GARAGE LAMP
<br />AND BALLAST REPAIR
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manger, requested permission
<br />to reject all bids for the above referred to project, as they exceeded the engineer's estimate. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request was approved.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 101-1998 - DISPOSAL OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the following Resolution
<br />was adopted by the Board of Public Works:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 101-1998
<br />WHEREAS, I.C. 36-9-6-1 gives the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend the
<br />right and duty to have custody of, control of, use of, and dispose of in accordance with Indiana
<br />statutes, all real and personal property owned by the City of South Bend; and
<br />WIJEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend passed as amended on January
<br />9, 1995, Ordinance No. 8570-95 which states that upon retirement with twenty (20) or more years
<br />of service:
