<br />Quotation was submitted by Mr. W.J. Bradberry
<br />QUOTATION: $69,300.00
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the above Quotations
<br />were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. After reviewing those
<br />quotations, Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manager, recommends that the Board award the
<br />contract to D&L Excavating, in the amount of $44,800.00. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion
<br />that the recommendation be accepted and the quotation be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Powell
<br />seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - LAB HVAC AND LIGHTING SYSTEM UPGRADE - WWTP -PROJECT NO.
<br />98-49
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on June 8, 1998, bids were received and
<br />opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell recommends that
<br />the Board award the contract to Slutsky Peltz Plumbing and Heating Company, Inc., 844 South Rush
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $126,100.00, which is the negotiated contract price.
<br />Slutsky Peltz was the only responsive bidder. Therefore, Mr. Powell made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - MORRIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - PRECAST CONCRETE PANELS -
<br />PROJECT NO. 98-25-4
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on June 22, 1998, bids were received and
<br />opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell recommends that
<br />the Board award the contract to Nucon Schokbeton, Inc., 3102 East Cork Street, Kalamazoo,
<br />Michigan, in the amount of $531,693.00. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Powell seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO REJECT QUOTATIONS - SOUTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD -
<br />BURIED STRUCTURE REMOVAL - PROJECT NO. 98-41-2
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the above referred to
<br />quotations were rejected, as they exceeded the Engineer's Estimate.
<br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDERS - TRAFFIC SIGNAL HAPROVEMENTS
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. David Koeppen, Project Engineer, has submitted the following Change
<br />Orders on behalf of Michiana Contracting, Lilac Road, South Bend, Indiana, and recommended
<br />approval:
<br />Change Order #1
<br />Increase $ 50.00
<br />Change Order #2
<br />Increase $ 800.00
<br />Change Order #4
<br />Increase $4,068.20
<br />$285,621.15 (New Contract Sum)
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the Change Orders were
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE PROJECT COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT - NIMTZ PARKWAY ACCESS ROAD
<br />LANDSCAPING - PROJECT NO. 95-18-6
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manager, has submitted the Project
<br />Completion Affidavit on behalf of Hunzikers, Inc., Post Office Box 397, Niles, Michigan, for the
<br />above referred to project, indicating a final cost of $117,235.00. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the Project Completion Affidavit was approved.
