REGULAR MEETING JUNE 1, 1998
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation
<br />was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS - BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Pam Feirick, 1022 South 31 st Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to
<br />block party, on Saturday, June 13, 1998, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., on 31st from Vine to
<br />Pleasant. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the
<br />recommendation -was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS - VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
<br />KICK OFF
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Macedonia Baptist Church, 1862 North Olive Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above
<br />referred to event, on Saturday, June 6, 1998, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., on Fremont from
<br />Hamilton to Marquette. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by W. Powell and carried,
<br />the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS - KENNEDY FIELD DAY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Linda Nellans, 1204 North Ironwood, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to
<br />event, on Tuesday, June 9, 1998, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., on Kennedy from Eclipse to
<br />Kennedy School. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS - LUNCHTIME PICNIC
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Mike Slattery, Madison School. 832 North Lafayette, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the
<br />above referred to block parry, on Wednesday, June 3, 1998, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Park
<br />Lane between Lafayette and Main. Upon a motion made by Mr Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer
<br />and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - POLICE ESCORT
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. James Welling, Orak Shrine Temple Motor Patrol to conduct the above referred to police
<br />escort on June 13, 1998, in conjunction with the River Park Day. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO TEMPORARILY LIFT PARKING BAN
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Richard Phebus, Adams High School, 808 South Twyckenham, South Bend, Indiana to
<br />temporarily lift the parking ban on June 5, 1998, in conjunction with Senior Awards Program. Upon
<br />a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that a request for a neighborhood block party had been forwarded to the City
<br />Council and Mayor's office. An individual representing the organization had completed an
<br />application on Friday, May 29, 1998. Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department reviewed the
<br />request and approved it. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried,
<br />the recommendation was approved. -
