REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 9. 1998
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT GREAT SARASOTA CIRCUS
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that .favorable recommendations have been received . by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Building Department, Code Enforcement, Police Department and the
<br />City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Donna McMahon, 2831 Ringling
<br />Boulevard, Sarasota, Florida to conduct the above referred to circus, on February 23, 1998 at the
<br />National Guard Armory, South Bend, Indiana. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by
<br />Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved;
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT THE THIRD ANNUAL RIVERSIDE
<br />RUN
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable. recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police -Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Susan O'Connor, South Bend Recreation Department to conduct the
<br />above referred to Riverside Run, on Saturday, June 20, 1998, beginning at 7:45 a.m., on the
<br />designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Littrell and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT CHIPPEWA CHASE FOUR MILE
<br />RUN
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Carole Riewe, Rum Village Nature Center to conduct the above referred
<br />to four mile run, on Saturday, October 17, 1998, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY
<br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as
<br />completed by Mr. Mark Troyer, 416 East.Souih Street, South Bend, Indiana to vacate the following
<br />alley: I
<br />The first north south alley west of Fellows Street from the south.right of way of East South Street
<br />to the north right of way to the first east west alley south of East South Street for a distance of
<br />approximately 99 feet and a width of 10 feet. Part located in Jodon's Sub, City of South Bend, St.
<br />Joseph County, Indiana.
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this
<br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation,
<br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Littrell
<br />made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning
<br />this Vacation Petition, subject to any utility easements and turning radius that may be required. Mr.
<br />Caldwell seconded fhe motion which carried.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell; seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, -the following Resolution
<br />was adopted by the Board of Public Works:

<br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board ofPublic Works that the following property is
<br />unfit for the purpose for which it was intended acid is no longer needed by the City of South Bend:
