021 <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 26, 1998 <br />APPROVAL OF REPORT OF CONTRACT FINAL INSPECTION AND RECOMMENDATION <br />FOR ACCEPTANCE - IRONWOOD WIDENING - PROJECT NO. 96-25 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the Report of Final <br />Inspection and Recommendation for Acceptance for the above referred to project was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT THE "WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE <br />SALE' <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Paula Garis, Park Department to conduct the above referred to event on Saturday, June 6, <br />1998, at the municipal parking garage at Wayne and St. Joseph Streets. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE A STREET <br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Mr. Jim Brown, Beeler and Brown Properties, 6910 University Gardens, Granger, <br />Indiana to vacate the following street: <br />Meghan Beeler Drive north, from the west line of West Cleveland Road Industrial Park, <br />Section One Subdivision, running (East) to the westerly line of Meghan Beeler Drive, for a <br />distance of approximately 357 feet. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Littrell <br />made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning <br />this Vacation Petition, Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY <br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Ms. Ann Kolata, Community & Economic Development to vacate the following alley: <br />The first north south alley east of North Main Street from the north right of way line of West Colfax <br />Avenue to the south right of way of the first east west alley north of West Colfax Avenue for a <br />distance of approximately 198 feet and a width of 14 feet. Part located in the original plat of South <br />Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition that the alley be vacated from the south line of the east west alley <br />to the building line of the LaSalle Grille.. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY <br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Mr. Robert Henry, Henry -Williams, Inc., 404 South Frances, South Bend, Indiana to <br />vacate the following alley: <br />The first east west alley south of Western Avenue from the east right of way of South Frances <br />Street to the west right of way of the first north south alley east of Frances Street for a <br />distance of approximately 105.6 feet and a width of 14 feet, all in the plat of Beck's 1st <br />Addition. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Littrell <br />made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning <br />this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. <br />
