Funding is <br />provided by the Local Roads and Streets Account. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following traffic <br />control device was approved: <br />INSTALLATION OF: No Parking Signs <br />LOCATION: Ironwood Drive from Northside to Mishawaka Avenue <br />REMARKS: Ironwood Bridge of St. Joseph River Construction <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following <br />Contractors and Excavation Bonds be approved as follows: <br />EXCAVATION BOND <br />Frank Baskovic DBA Bass Excavating & Trucking Approved Effective August 2, 1999 <br />CONTRACTOR BOND <br />Jack Scott & Associates <br />and Jack Scott Concrete <br />Approved Effective August 2, 1999 <br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be approved <br />as outlined above. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the following Certificates <br />of Insurance were accepted for filing: <br />Trans Tech Electric, Inc. <br />Post Office Box 3915 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 <br />The Robert Henry Corporation <br />404 South Frances Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624-1407 <br />TABLE TITLE SHEET - CLEVELAND ROAD ADDED LANES - PROJECT NO. 98-87 <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Title Sheet for the above referred to project was being presented at this <br />time for execution. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the <br />above referred to Title Sheet was tabled. <br />DENY RELEASE OF EASEMENT - 135 SYLVAN GLEN <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Larry Spradlin, Engineering, recommended that the Board of Public <br />Works not approve a release of easement along the south property line of 135 Sylvan Glen Drive, <br />Lot 60. The storm sewer which lies in the easement has been plugged and abandoned by the Sewer <br />Department, and the City may at some time in the future, wish to use this easement. Mr. Spradlin <br />recommended that in order to correct the problem, a fence could be erected down the center of the <br />easement with the understanding the fence could be removed if the City of South Bended needed to <br />construct a new sewer or re -activate the existing sewer. Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, <br />seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $1,039,108.66 and <br />recommended approval. Additionally, Mr. Juan Manigault, Executive Director, WDS of Northern <br />Indiana, submitted one (1) list containing claims in the amount of $42,326.43 and recommended <br />approval. In addition, Mr. Kenneth Szulczyk, St. Joseph County Housing Consortium, submitted <br />claims and recommended approval. Mr. Powell made a motion that the claims be approved and the <br />reports as submitted be filed. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />1 <br />
