REGULAR MEETING JULY 26, 1999
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE OAK RIDGE FROM SCOTTSWOOD TO
<br />DORWOOD - BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Tammie Acoff,
<br />1719 Dorwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block party, on July 31,
<br />1999. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE WASHINGTON FROM ST. JOSEPH TO
<br />MICHIGAN - COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME ENSHRINEMENT FESTIVITIES
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Bernie Kish,
<br />College Football Hall of Fame, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to enshrinement
<br />festivities, on August 13 and 14, 1999. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr.
<br />Powell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CHANGE PARKING RESTRICTIONS - TEMPLE
<br />BETH EL HOLY DAYS
<br />W. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. David Hachen,
<br />Temple Beth -El, 305 West Madison, South Bend, Indiana, to make both sides of West Madison and
<br />North Lafayette Boulevard parking for their Holy Day services, on September 10, 11, 19 and 20,
<br />1999. Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET -NORTH SCOTT FROM WEST
<br />MARION TO ALLEY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Rhonda
<br />Redman, 518 North Scott Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block party,
<br />on August 3, 1999, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell,
<br />seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT CRIME WALK - RIVER PARK
<br />NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Code Enforcement, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to
<br />a request as submitted by Mr. Dennis Whittaker, River Park Neighborhood Association, 2124
<br />Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on August 3,1999,
<br />from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE CLAIMS
<br />Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $2,918,785.28 and
<br />recommended approval. In addition, Ms. Cleo Hickey, Morris Performing Arts Center, submitted
<br />claims and recommended approval. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the claims be approved and the
<br />reports as submitted be filed. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried.
<br />ADJOURNMENT
<br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell,
<br />seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:56 a.m.
