REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 11. 1999 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:32 a.m. on Monday, January <br />11, 1999, by Board President James R. Caldwell, with Mr. Lewis N. Powell and Ms. M. Catherine <br />Roemer present. Also present was Board Attorney Michelle Engel. (Mr. Powell arrived at 9:45 a.m.) <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, an agenda to elect the <br />President of the Board of Public Works for 1999 was added. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on December 21, 1998, were approved. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS PRESIDENT ELECTED <br />Ms. Roemer made a motion that Mr. Caldwell be elected President of the Board of Public Works for <br />the year 1999. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion, which carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING TABLED - INTENT TO LEASE OFFICE SPACE - 205 WEST JEFFERSON <br />SUITE 100 <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a Lease <br />Agreement, to lease office space at 205 West Jefferson, Suite 100. Upon a a motion made by Ms. <br />Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the Public Hearing was tabled, pending review by <br />the City Council. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - GURLEY LEEP AUTOMOTIVE <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an <br />application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Sam Sweeden, Gurley Leep <br />Automotive, Mishawaka, Indiana, to conduct the sale of used vehicles at the Century Center on <br />January 11 through 15, 1999. As this license was approved by Board Attorney Ann Carol Nash, the <br />Public Hearing portion was waived. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by <br />Ms. Roemer and carried, the License Application was approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - MORRIS PERFOR HNG ARTS CENTER - PROJECT NO. 98-25-5 <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />MIDWEST TILE & INTERIORS INC. <br />1805 North Cedar <br />Mishawaka, Indiana 46545 <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Gregory Gluchowski, President <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />BID: $63,225.00 - Bid Package 98-25-5.9B - Ceramic Tile <br />Alternate #1 - Add $17,877.00 <br />$178,900.00 - Bid Package 98-25-5.9D - Flooring <br />Alternate #1 - Add $16,680.00 <br />Alternate #2 - Add $ 200.00 <br />Alternate #3 - Add $ 13,500.00 <br />THE ART MOSAIC & TILE COMPANY <br />903 East Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624 <br />
