REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 9, 2000
<br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, October
<br />9, 2000, by Board President Gary A. Gilot, with Mr. Donald E. Inks present. Board Member M.
<br />Catherine Roemer was not present. Also present was Board Attorney Frank Schaffer.
<br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the following item was added
<br />to the agenda:
<br />- Construction Contract - 2000 Concrete Pavement Repairs
<br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the minutes of the regular
<br />meeting of the Board held on September 25, 2000, were approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING- APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - CHRISTMAS
<br />TREE SALES
<br />Mr. Gilot advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a Transient
<br />Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Earl Brown, 8928 West Oak Lane, Lake City, Michigan, to
<br />conduct the sale of Christmas trees November 22 through December 21, 2000, at the Broadmoor
<br />Plaza in South Bend. It was noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police
<br />Department, Building Department and Fire Department.
<br />There being no one present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing
<br />was closed.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the Transient
<br />Merchant License was approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - KRIS
<br />KRINGLE KRAFT SHOW
<br />Mr. Gilot advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a Transient
<br />Merchant License, as submitted by Ms. Elinor Tyl, 1963 Piedmont Way, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />conduct the sale of crafts on November 26, 2000 at Union Station in South Bend. It was noted that
<br />favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, Building Department and
<br />Fire Department.
<br />Ms. Elinor Tyl, 1963 Piedmont Way, South Bend, Indiana, was present, and recommended approval.
<br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public
<br />Hearing was closed.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the Transient
<br />Merchant License was approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - NATIONAL
<br />SUPER SALE
<br />Mr. Gilot advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a Transient
<br />Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Ali Khatib, 1280 West Wildview, Anaheim Hills, California,
<br />to conduct the sale of electronics, computers, clothing, shoes, tools and movies October 17 to 20,
<br />2000, at the Century Center in South Bend. It was noted that favorable recommendations have been
<br />received by the Police Department, Building Department and Fire Department.
<br />Mr. David Hicks, Century Center, was present, and recommended approval. There being no one else
<br />present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing was closed.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the Transient
<br />Merchant License was approved.
