REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 25. 2000
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - 23RD STREET FROM
<br />MISHAWAKA AVENUE TO VINE STREET - RIVER PARK DAY FESTIVITIES
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Dee
<br />Thompson, River Park United Methodist Church, 920 South 23rd Street, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />conduct the above referred to festivities, on September 23, 2000, from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
<br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CHANGE PARKING RESTRICTIONS - WEST
<br />MADISONNORTH LAFAYETTE - HOLY DAY SERVICES - TEMPLE BETH-EL
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms.
<br />Marzy Bauer, Temple Beth -El, 305 West Madison, South Bend, Indiana to remove the "No Parking"
<br />signs temporarily for this event, on September 29 and 30, October 8 and 9, 2000. Upon a motion
<br />made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CHANGE PARKING RESTRICTIONS - EAST
<br />LASALLE STREET - HIGH HOLY DAYS - SINAI SYNAGOGUE
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Linda
<br />Mintz, Sinai Synagogue, 1102 East LaSalle, South Bend, Indiana to remove the "No Parking" signs
<br />temporarily for this event, on September 30, October 8 and 9, 2000. Upon a motion made by Ms.
<br />Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT LEUKEMIA SOCIETY
<br />SOLICITATION
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Maria
<br />Rearick, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 921 East 86"' Street, Indianapolis, Indiana to conduct
<br />the above referred to solicitation, on October 7 and 28, 2000, at Ironwood and State Road 23. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT RED RIBBON MARCH - UNITED
<br />COMMUNITY AGAINST DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as
<br />submitted by Ms. Gladys Muhammad, South Bend Heritage Foundation, 914 Lincolnway West,
<br />South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to march, on October 27, 2000, beginning at
<br />10:30 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by
<br />Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - GARBAGE AND RUBBISH SERVICE
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that the following Garbage and Rubbish Service application has been received:
<br />NAME: Pete Buchanan
<br />ADDRESS: 1210 Bissell, South Bend, Indiana
<br />Mr. Gilot further advised that a favorable recommendation has been received by the Department of
<br />Code Enforcement concerning this application. Further, the Bureau of Sanitation has inspected the
<br />vehicle(s) to be used in conjunction with this business, and has found them to be satisfactory. Upon
<br />a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above license application was
<br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license.
