REGULAR MEETING JUNE 5, 2000 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:37 a.m. on Monday, June 5, <br />2000, by Board President M. Catherine Roemer, with Mr. Carl P. Littrell present. Board member <br />Donald E. Inks was not present. Also present was interim Board Attorney Aladean DeRose. <br />ADD/DELETE AGENDA ITEMS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following items were <br />added/deleted: <br />- Change Order - Morris Performing Arts Center - Fire Protection <br />- Indemnification and Hold Harmless Undertaking - Sunburst Marathon Kids' Race - Leighton Plaza <br />Garage <br />- Contractor Bond - August W. Mauer III <br />- Delete Service Agreement - AEP <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of the Board held on May 30, 2000, were approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTIES - TWO (2) LOTS ON WEST <br />CALVERT STREET <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to properties. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened and publicly read: <br />G&M PROPERTIES <br />14290 Day Road <br />Mishawaka, Indiana 46545 <br />BID: $500.00 for both properties <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above bid was <br />referred to the Legal Department for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD BID - LIQUID CHLORINE - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT <br />Mr. Jack Dillon, Director, Environmental Services, advised the Board that on April 17, 2000, bids <br />were received and opened for the above referred to chemical. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Dillon <br />recommends that the Board award the bid for the liquid chlorine to the lowest, most responsive and <br />responsible bidder, Alexander Chemical Corporation, 2525 Cabot Drive, Lisle, Illinois, in the amount <br />of $359.00 per ton. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and <br />the bid be awarded as outlined above. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS - INTERIOR EXTERIOR AND TRAFFIC PAINT <br />Mr. George Zana, Central Services, advised the Board that on May 8, 2000, bids were received and <br />opened for the above referred to paint.
