REGULAR MEETING APRIL 17, 2000
<br />by Ms. Mary Bonds, 1310 Eclipse Place, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block
<br />party on LaSalle from William to Taylor, on April 22, 2000. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks,
<br />seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
<br />Ms. Roemer stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Adeline Jaskowiak, 727 South Illinois, South Bend, Indiana to conduct
<br />the above referred to parade on May 29, 2000, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on the designated route as
<br />submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, `the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - POLICE ESCORT - SPECIAL OLYMPICS
<br />Ms. Roemer stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Sharon Evans, Special Olympics of St. Joseph County, Mishawaka, Indiana, for a request for
<br />a police escort for the Special Olympics on June 1, 2000, at 6:00 p.m., on the designated route as
<br />submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO ACOUIRE CITY- OWNED PROPERTY - FIVE
<br />(5) LOTS ON SADIE STREET - HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
<br />Ms. Roemer stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Community and Economic Development, Code Enforcement, Police Department and
<br />the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. John Butkovich, Habitat for
<br />Humanity, 402 East South Street, South Bend, Indiana to acquire the lots at 201, 205, 215, 217, and
<br />219 Sadie Street, for development of the property for housing in the Near Westside area of South
<br />Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation
<br />was approved.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTIONNO.61-2000 -DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following Resolution was
<br />adopted by the Board of Public Works:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 61-2000
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
<br />ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND/OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY
<br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following property is
<br />unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of South Bend:
<br />FIVE (5) ALLEN BRADLEY KF2 DATA CONVERTERS
<br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-60 permits and establishes procedure for disposal of
<br />personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer
<br />needed by the City.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board ofPublic Works ofthe City of South
<br />Bend that the items listed above are no longer needed by the City; are unfit for the purpose for which
<br />they were intended and have an estimated value of less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00).
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said items may be transferred or sold at public auction
<br />or private sale, without advertising. However, if the property is deemed worthless, such may be
<br />demolished or junked.
